Sorry mate. There were a number of times when it was his time to go and he went in timid. No one expects him to get 10 CPs a game, only to go when its his turn.

He’s a seasoned senior player and this s**t is not on.

Plenty worse than him on the night

At centre bounces, he just chases his opponent around aimlessly. He is always a second too late to tackle or spoil, he always gets outmarked by smaller and less experienced players, he doesn’t go in hard at the ball, when he has it he just blazes away, passes laterally to a teammate 15m away or turns it over. He does some good things sometimes too no doubt, but honestly we will be better off with him signed as a free agent over the off season, getting a compo pick and playing one of the great up and coming youngsters we have in his spot

for a dEfEnSiVe WInga Specialist i thought his defensive wing work was generally somewhat below par. In yet another final

On the bright side; if we win the flag, with Bran the Man in the team over the next two weeks, surely the afl have to give us a top25 compo pick when he ends up at the Suns?

I'd snap their hands off for a top 25 draft pick. He is supposedly in our top 10 earners so we should get about the same we got for Vickery pick wise if he leaves.

Watched the Re-play thought Ellis was under whelming bordering on ineffectual to the point were as a Team we were one player short...

A very candid post:clapping:

Kudos to you.

STATS SMATS but still this poor bloke gets crucified, i thought he had an average to very average game but really a few need to settle, Dusty and Sheds got us our win with big match winning games from them and Prestia and Grimes superb and nice cameos from Caddy, Bolton, Cotch, Shorty, JackR and Lynch... the rest were all pretty much bog average but stuck to their roles.... Brando was poor early but so was JG, Baker, Nank, Soldo, Houli, George and Trent....

We were let off the hook early and by the end of the day Brando was 6th in disposals, 8th in rankings, 6ths in disposal efficiency @ 82%, 4th in metres gained and coz Dimma relies on his endurance was 4th as most TOG 92% , his clangers were 3 which was about team average and yes i saw those 3 or 4 cringey moments. needed to be better but if umps had cut him a bit of slack it wouldn't have been so bad on 2 occasions he was unlucky and made to look bad when he was shoved.

But i also cringed with some of the more robust but still poor displays from Nank, Baker and Soldo and thought Jack Grahams and Cotchins first quarters were abysmal. Broad did nothing all game but is excused because Hipworth never got off his chain.

Who are the three?

I reckon if I said Bourke Barrott and Clay you'd still disagree with me.

I'm not in an argumentative mood on this thread anymore due to being banned (for something pretty lame).

Let's see who they pick in 10 days or so.

He was pretty crap but he seems better at the G.... Can't imagine he'd be dropped but he'll get a rocket surely.

Let's wait and see what the VFL Prelim brings

itd be a pretty boring website if we just copy and pasted the coaches thoughts and posted the selected sides

First post I’m making here in a while. Everyone carrying on about his weakness/unwillingness in the contest, but as an outside player the biggest blight on him for mine is his ball use. If he was consistently hitting a chest then you could overlook some of the other stuff, but reality is for an outside player he’s a poor kick.

It’s partly to do with technique, and partly to do with panicking even when he’s got time and space. Reality is ball in hand he’s usually more focused on potential contact than he is on hitting a target. This inevitably leads to just throwing it on the boot with those sand wedge type floaters that go about as high as they do long.

Thing I can’t work out with Brando is there’s games where he goes in hard and seems to be less phased by the contact. When he’s in that mode I actually like him as a player, and his kicking is usually better as he’s prepared to take a hit in order hit a target. What I hate is he seems to pick and choose which games he wants to crack in, and which games he wants to be a passenger (like we saw last night). He’s best 22 when he’s doing the former, but should be nowhere near the side when he’s in the mode of the latter.

Ultimately it all boils down to his mindset on the day, but unfortunately I don’t think we can keep carrying a player who picks and chooses.

not going to quote his fantasy football score this week?

He is the weakest link in our team and the pro ellis supporters are just looking for reasons to keep their 'boy' in the team

We all know about his habit of avoiding contact and his floating kicks as well as his side way kicking and slowing the momentum of the team but the thing that annoyed me the most last night was how easily a 19 year old kid thats shorter than ellis and similar weight just brushed him off numerous times and won the ball.

173 game player being man handled by a 25 game 19 year old is unacceptable

I understand the thread bandage, or suspensions, been there done that, over moderated I agree.

However, well, ok lets agree to disagree, I think ellis will be better in the next game, he really has been a shining light and leader in an tigeshaveinjuries year, all players have off games and think just because of the way this thread has gone this year that some are out to nit pick needles in haystacks for the threads sake, if not, he was fine.

I will admit his game was below his average, but do stand by saying he was better than others. Doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Really good post. I don't know if he's distracted by contract talks or he feels under pressure to perform, but he is bereft of confidence at the moment and you can see it from the first bounce. Last night's performance was well below par. I don't think he necessarily picks and chooses because I'd hate to think that any player at the top level does that. From tv, it looked like his mindset was all wrong and his defensive efforts were poor as has been pointed out by others. Because he is a whipping boy, I want him to play well, but at the moment, it ain't happening.

The problem with Ellis is, he gets scared. When he shrugs his shoulders before impact, he’s worried about getting hurt. That decision to brace affects his ability to make a quick decision and he gets nailed or turns it over. I like him but. Been a good player overall.

He's not scared, as I said earlier in the year, he's graphical with his facial expressions mainly in the contest, I see why people think it for sure, he's harder than people think
