Can we all take a breath and enjoy the sweet fact that we are getting very good players nominating and/or keen to come to our club?

Wasn't long ago that only players like Tutt, Whiley & Lang were approaching us willingly (and not the other way around!).

Papley will get done contracted or not. Pick 8 is our starting point
Future pick for Martin is on the table
Betts will happen for alot cheaper then you'd think (both salary and draftpick)

Agreed on all accounts.

At this stage I'd like to know how Adelaide are going to reach the floor.

Don't say the L word.

Not happy with people suggesting a first each for Paps and Martin, even more for Paley.
Neither are worth that in my opinion.
I'd be seriously unhappy if we paid that much contracted or not as neither have done anything of note to warrant that sort of price tag.
First are for quality mids and key post players only.

I don't understand this rationale at all. Lets put this in perspective.

Papley has kicked 37 goals this season - averaged 1.5 goals per game over his career - he's worth every bit of pick 8 in a weak draft to our list.

Jack Martin is also an absolute gun who in the right environment away from the abyss that is GC will , I have no doubt, prove his worth as a game changer. If push came to shove I'd give up our first next year with their future second that the AFL gave them coming back. I'd trade Levi for him in a heartbeat if that was all it took. Mark my words now under Andrew Russell and in our forward line Jack Martin will flourish and whatever we pay for him will look like nothing. He is the cherry on the cake. Two players who are absolute dynamite smalls want to come to our football club and into our forward line and from 2020 as a package will easily contribute 45 plus goals to our season if they play 18 games each and produce their career average - it will be more in my opinion. For a team with 3 tall forwards like ours you pay whatever the price is for these two small forwards to sit at their feet. I will accept nothing less than 2 deals getting done and if 2 first rounders is what it takes then so be it. You won't be thinking about the draft picks with Papley and Martin at the feet of Harry and Charlie for the next 8 years!

Can't disagree with this any more. Each pick is for best available and needs. We are desperate for small forwards and sometimes you pay what you have to to achieve this. So what if they cost us a 1st each, if they kick winning goal next year I'm sure it won't matter what we pay

Only concern is we haven't addressed our midfield needs. Yes Papely may pinch hit in there, however Ed and Smurph aren't getting any younger.

There's still time. I'd be more than happy for Agresta and SOS to throw our future 1st at someone.

Cogs was potentially a freebie. Nothing more. I think they'll give our young midfield 1 more year to develop and show we have the goods, whilst focusing on our clear deficits - Wing and forward line.

If our midfield doesn't improve next year I can see us losing 1 or 2 mids, and trading very heavily for a gun mid or 2.

Martin will be playing midfield and wing, but I do agree we're probably 1 class midfielder away. However by the time next year rolls around Stocker, Setterfield or Dow could be that player.

So it's a business then and not a competition.
OK, it's both but the same 'support' would not be afforded to a Melbourne based club, should it find itself in a similar predicament.
We know this and we know why, but it's simply wrong to pick and choose who you're going to help and to what extent you're going to help them.
There's no black nor white........just grey, grey and then some more grey.

What happens if Gold Coast become successful....like real successful and then maybe too successful thanks to all the support. What then?
Just saying that this competition is being manipulated and is compromised. People don't like this.
The most successful GC can become is to win 3 flags in a row. Lions did this and so what?they are now less dependent on the afl for assistance and they are in rugby dominant city/state. Surely you can see the idea behind helping GC get on their feet. Melbourne based clubs do not need the assistance. Afl has to reduce the number of clubs in Melbourne. If they relocate/merge Roos saints dees that would improve the competition and result in less poor quality games each round. Maybe merge one with GC and another with a tassie team and just get rid of dees all together. Problem fixed. By the way these are just my opinions.

That would be worse...afl have to make it work now. It’s a city of ~600k population and an emerging generation of Aussie rulers. Give it time it will work.
Anyone have any pills for memory? I keep forgetting to care.

SOS and Co need to get better in getting quality players with later picks. Deluca selection is looking a little puzzling right now. Pickett and Stack were both taken with rookie selections by the premiers.

Reckon the CLub has enough high draft pick kids needing development on the books - is there a standout draftee you'd use pick#9 on? Personally I'd like to see SOS think more about nailing some lower order draftees and using what little high pick currency he has on developed players like - Papley/Martin or even better still a decent back up midfielder to Cripps.

I am hoping SOS can somehow turn pick 9 into both Papley and martin.

trade Pick 9 for two picks in the teens and then offload them to Suns and Swans

Pick 9 would be the absolutely minimum we pay. Can't see Sydney accepting less. And we should absolutely jump at that deal if so.

let's rate every decision by sos that didn't produce immediate gold against the premiers......
