Think we all sometimes forget how young Dow (and LOB) is/are.

Second year players. Drafted at not even 80kg. Asked to do some heavy AFL lifting in what is usually a VFL phase for most other kids.

They will be fine players. They might not become superstars but not everyone has to be.

He can also nominate his wages in EITHER draft. You can't draft him unless you're willing to pay up.

Geelong won't come to the party? Kelly nominates for the NATIONAL draft.

Gold Coast live trade pick 2, immediately before the pick is taken, to WCE for 2 firsts. (Crazy but could happen).

You'd imagine Pick 9 for Papley is fair and reasonable. Perhaps a third rounder coming back if we can get it.

• We don't need any more 3rd rounders
• Swans' 2nd rounder is perfect for Martin
• Swans don't need any of our 2019 picks
• Swans need points for Academy players next year
• Pick 9 + Blues 2020 pick (2nd round?) for Papley and 25

Kelly was offered a "significant" 1 year deal by Geelong.

I doubt Geelong reneg'ed on that considering his performance this year. If they told him "stiff shit, trade failed, you're staying on base wage now" I doubt he would have had the season he had.

Said this before but i still reckon Fisher hasn't quite gotten over (mentally) that broken leg he suffered at the hands of that feral Hawthorn scumbag.

I am optimistic he can get back to his 2017 form with a good and invigorating pre-season.

Dow is not that far away from putting all together in my opinion, some kids just take longer to mature, but geez some of the glimpses he has shown us is very exciting, really needs to work extra hard on his goal kicking, but he will be a beauty.

yes - we are all looking forward to the improvement expected from all the 40-50 gamers on the list and there are always reasons why a player doesn't progress as well as expected in any year...

but my response was to a specific question - which asked was anyone surprised by their form - and my response was in the affirmative - which merely suggests to any person that reads English - that I was too optimistic about the rate of their progress. I am no longer too optimistic.
