One of the hosts of Trade Radio just said "he would buy shares in Carlton, really likes what they are doing", he calls himself Kane Cornes but I really don';t believe it.

He also said that Norf are a middle of the road team going nowhere.

Starting to like Fireman Kane believe it or not lol :)

Not gonna lie, it's a bit of work following that...

Carlton:
OUT: 9, 41, future first, Casboult
IN: Gaff, Papley, future first (WC)

West Coast:
OUT: 14, Gaff, undisclosed best 22 player
IN: Kelly

Gold Coast:
OUT: pick something-or-other?
IN: Casboult

Geelong:
OUT: Kelly
IN: 9, 14

Sydney:
OUT: Papley
IN: 41, pick something-or-other (GC), undisclosed best 22 player (WC)

There's a looooooot going on there Prem. Not saying it's impossible, depending on how it was sequenced, but it strikes me as highly unlikely that 5 clubs would be able to come together and nut that out, especially given it needs a bit of tuning to get anywhere close to fair.

Carlton get Gaff and Papley for 9, 41, Casboult and a 10(?) spot pick downgrade? Remarklably favourable.
West Coast lose Pick 14, one of their top 3 players, and another best 22 player, all for Kelly? They're getting reamed. Hard. Without lube.
No indication Casboult wants to go to the Suns, and you haven't even indicated what pick you think this would be (strange given the amount of time you've clearly invested).
Geelong do OK, no issues there.
Sydney, no idea what they're even getting here, so impossible to judge. Probably overs depending on the pick and player?

So West Coast get shafted and Carlton and Sydney reap the rewards. Optimistic.

Simplify it:

Trade 1: Carlton send 9 to Sydney for Papley
Trade 2: Sydney send 9 to WC for player X and another pick (or swap).
Trade 3: West Coast send 9 and 14 to Geelong for Kelly.

Done. Assuming WC have a player Sydney want, and who wants to play for Sydney, and is worth trading Pick 9 for.

There was no suggestion that all the clubs would be involved.
I said that the picks from other trades, such as Phillips to * and Casboult to GC could also be used as sweeteners.
A direct handover of pick 9 to Sydney would mean that it ends up at Essendon, that's not likely to happen from our pov because it enables * to go chasing an elite mid.

If it's true hawks might move a few of there older players on I would be definitely going for Isaak Smith Only 30 and doesn't get injured to much would have at least 3-4 yrs left in him great leader and trainer, line breaking mid with elite kicking skills and exactly the type we need

Bloody exciting 12 days coming up!

Did you read the article in the HUN, the AFL want to extend trade period until right up to the start of the following season. Further proof we have drop outs from Sunshine Tafe on the AFL Commission.

BTW people, I might add that I think SOS would be extremely wary of giving pick 9 directly to Sydney for Papley because if Sydney then use that pick as part of the Daniher trade, then that gives * 3 top 10 picks.
2 of those picks could then be used to recruit an elite mid, making one of the mid tier competitors stronger.
I doubt SOS will allow that to happen, especially if an elite mid gets linked to * early on, such as Wines.

Can't think like that, Prem - you make the trades that make your team stronger, and let other sides sort themselves out. Essendon aren't a serious threat anyway.

This is why it's important that Jack Martin be secured first, *FC wanted him last year and will try to cut our grass this year if given the opportunity.

It's rumoured that they will demand 2 top ten picks for Daniher, plus the pick that they have already which would be there or thereabouts depending on how it changed after the recent GC compensation.
So, in that scenario they would then have 3 picks to go chasing mids with.

Which pick do they already have...?

Come on Prem, you're getting carried away here. You can't refuse to trade a pick because you're worried about who that club might on-trade that pick to.

Ha ha

Where are the nrl getting their guys from then!!

Still can’t believe they still let their biggest code rival dominate the offseason by refusing to implement a draft.

Everyone of them should be sacked for that alone

So you would trade a pick knowing that it would end up in the hands of another team that is also borderline when it comes to making the finals?
Sorry but I am far more ruthless than that.
i agree that you do what strengthens your position at the time but you also don't give a free kick to a traditional rival

Surely you're not referring to the pick that GWS have from the Shiel trade?

And no way are Sydney trading a top 5 and a top 10 pick for Daniher.

Cray cray.

Us getting Papley is far more important than whatever compensation the Scum get for losing their most important (however broken down) player.

AA night ... When Grundy was asked about the midfield and who he'd like to tap it down to.... "Reckon I'd have to go Cripps. He's a huge man "

So pretty well confirmed he's coming on live tv, guys n gals

This will be one of the biggest shocks in the trade period if Grundy nominates us for some reasons or snag him as a FA next year.

The Collingwood melts will be glorious.

Sydney says "We want Pick 9 for Papley".
Carlton says "We're happy to pay Pick 9 for Papley, but we don't want you to have it so you can on-trade it for Daniher because we don't want Essendon to get a decent midfielder, so what we'll do is wait til you find someone other than Daniher who you want to trade for, who is worth Pick 9-ish, and then we'll do a three-, four- or five-way trade so that Pick 9 gets to that club instead. You'll just have to find some way of getting Daniher without giving Essendon any picks that they could use to get a decent midfielder."

Sydney says "**** off."
