Hopefully the our trade period doesn't revolve around this trade...

A lot of things to fall in place, certainly...

Although we're all hoping for an accelerated decision by SOS and co....
yeah, might seem to be up in the air, but no doubt we are on solid ground. The spin can make you dizzy sometimes.

If things don't pan out and we can't get Papley for pick 9 and if West Coast come and said, we will take Pick 9 for Gaff. Would you do it?

Edit: I would, gotta get something out of this trade period.

You can’t possible compare Gaff to Papley, so of course you would do that. Gaff is A grade.

Parko on SEN atm.
Murph: Parko, you coached B. Doull for a long time.
Parko: yep, still waiting for an answer to my 1st question to him.
:D

Just trade pick 9 now to either the Swans or Eagles and watch the other team squirm about how they get their shit done....

In the end we will get the other player for next year’s first...

? I don't understand your statement.

The question being ask if the Papley trade doesn't eventuate. Will you trade pick 9 for Gaff.

I am not sure what you mean by "You can't possible compare Gaff to Papley'? Care to Elaborate?

Position wise ? Yes different players. We still need a mature mid as well as a small forward.

Papley fills a need for us a lot more urgently than Gaff, and is 5 years younger.

As Denis Pagan used to say, this is 'Its horses for courses' type of choice, but for me, if it came down to Papley or Gaff, I am picking Papley 24/7, especially when you consider we can pick Gaff for free at the end of next season.

Not saying you or anyone else who would say otherwise is wrong, just my own personal opinion on what path we should go down :)

Doesn't give much away, does SOS? I can imagine him at home....

Ben: Dad, what's for dinner?
SOS: Nothing has been decided yet, I'll sit down with the kitchen manager and work through some discussions.
Ben: How about pasta? You love pasta and haven't had it in ages!
SOS: Look, I'd be happy if pasta was on the menu. I'm open to any type of carbohydrate-based meal, but if a protein-based meal was suggested, I'll take a look at that too. At the end of the day, I'm also respectful that the chef might have already chosen the menu for tonight.
Ben: OK, how about I order some takeaway?
SOS: Look, I'm not desperate for takeaway. We have some really good fresh ingredients in the fridge already and we're confident about the food we can cook ourselves. If I find some takeaway that complements our home-cooked meal, then I'm open to considering that.

Ben: **** it! I guess I'm ordering uber eats again.....
He needs to see this lol

It’s really not that difficult, pick 9 is worth Gaff but pick 9 is not worth Papley.
Gaff is A grade and therefore worth a top 10, if not more and Papley is not worth a top 10.
I’m not sure how else I can explain my view.
Sometimes I feel people enjoy trading for anyone and anything, for the sake of it.
Thankfully I have faith the club and SOS values our picks and future.

We can trade out of the 1st round this year, next year AND the year after and still have used 2 in 4 years (both in the 2018 draft).

Or we could attend the draft wearing a Hawthorn or Geelong mask and never have to draft in the first round again....

If WCE will accept a future first for Gaff we should be doing it in a heartbeat. You don’t say no to players like him. A perfect hand and mentor to Walsh/LOB on the wings.

Papley for pick 9, very simple.
Martin for our future 2nd. GC will baulk.
Eddie for our future 4th.

Leaves us with 42 + 47 to find a few gems. Upgrade Gibbons to the senior list. Happy enough to skip the top end of next years academy ridden draft.

Awesome, he can stay in the Wild Wild West...I don’t reckon he’s the right fit for us.
Someone suggested keeping the 2020 first and using it with the 2021 first for someone elite....this is a good strategy IMO

For who?

Those picks would only be pick 8-12 in a compromised draft, may not land anyone truly elite.

There comes a time where enough is enough re picks and trading for specific needs rounds out the list better than yet more 1st round picks.
