Doesn't give much away, does SOS? I can imagine him at home....

Ben: Dad, what's for dinner?
SOS: Nothing has been decided yet, I'll sit down with the kitchen manager and work through some discussions.
Ben: How about pasta? You love pasta and haven't had it in ages!
SOS: Look, I'd be happy if pasta was on the menu. I'm open to any type of carbohydrate-based meal, but if a protein-based meal was suggested, I'll take a look at that too. At the end of the day, I'm also respectful that the chef might have already chosen the menu for tonight.
Ben: OK, how about I order some takeaway?
SOS: Look, I'm not desperate for takeaway. We have some really good fresh ingredients in the fridge already and we're confident about the food we can cook ourselves. If I find some takeaway that complements our home-cooked meal, then I'm open to considering that.

Ben: **** it! I guess I'm ordering uber eats again.....

You deadset idiot

I cacked

If WCE will accept a future first for Gaff we should be doing it in a heartbeat. You don’t say no to players like him. A perfect hand and mentor to Walsh/LOB on the wings.

Papley for pick 9, very simple.
Martin for our future 2nd. GC will baulk.
Eddie for our future 4th.

Leaves us with 42 + 47 to find a few gems. Upgrade Gibbons to the senior list. Happy enough to skip the top end of next years academy ridden draft.

While the AFL will give us some leeway with regards to future picks, they're not going to let us go into 2020 with only a 3rd rounder and a 5th.

It’s really not that difficult, pick 9 is worth Gaff but pick 9 is not worth Papley.
Gaff is A grade and therefore worth a top 10, if not more and Papley is not worth a top 10.
I’m not sure how else I can explain my view.
Sometimes I feel people enjoy trading for anyone and anything, for the sake of it.
Thankfully I have faith the club and SOS values our picks and future.

I'm sure we'll be debating this for a few days to come and no-one is suggesting Gaff being inferior to Papley, because that isn't the case.
The consideration is which situation serves the club best should it have to choose between the two?

A 27/28 y.o. inside/outside mid at around ~900K per year, or a 23y.o. mid/forward at ~550K per year (Making assumption on values)

As much as I like Gaff and I don't see him making us better than for what Papley may.
This is debatable of course but taking into account needs, age, dollars etc.....Lots to take into account. Maybe we can get both. Maybe.

After how hard we’ve been hitting the draft these past few years we’d have a very good case. Not that I’d trust the AFL to bend the rules for us.

I’m just struggling to fit in Gaff/anonymous A grader any other way.

I never claimed Papley is worth more than Gaff. My opinion is that Gaff is worth more than Papley as he is more of an established player, so at least we can agree on that.

The statement was would you trade Pick 9 for Gaff if the Papley trade did not eventuate which is a real possibility.

Don't need to get personal with your last statement, it is a bigfooty forum.

Would need to make sure the trades we wanted to do helped a few AFL darlings.

If it helps GC in some capacity, if it lands Geelong the first round picks they need to avoid breaking draft requirement rules next year, and if it enables a hugely newsworthy multi-club deal that sees Gaff and Kelly land at new clubs, I reckon the AFL give it the tick of approval.

I'd suggest we'd be more likely to be using our 2019 3rds in some way, and also getting something back in the Papley trade.

We need to draft 3 players in the national draft by the AFL rules, think we need to use pick 71 as well.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how productive have you been at work today?

The major sticking point has been Betts' contract for 2020, which is worth close to $600,000. The Blues are hoping that Adelaide will pick up some portion of that salary.

What's the problem? Just pay the portion of his salary, Adelaide..
