Which rule prevents a player having the option to terminate early at certain point/s? I only see one which prevents one party having the right to extend.
Yes, right you are. I just read that reference again.

When do the Blues pick up Peter Bosustow?
Marchesani deal needs to go down first...

Yes, you are correct, it does refer solely to extension. But in saying that, any agreement that enables a party to unilaterally terminate at the sole discretion of one party is arguably not an agreement at all.

It seems that the purpose of that clause, which referred Snake to, is to preclude inclusion of options which would otherwise be permissible outside of AFL environment. But the general rules of contract would prevent a unilateral option to terminate at mere discretion of one party.

I am starting to talk myself into thinking if I throw a little money to the side each week I can book a 10-day overseas holiday trip to somewhere with no phone reception during Trade Periods and save my mental health.

I have always like the Mark Twain quote..
“Out of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.”

Pretty long bow to draw.

IMHO you are being very harsh on Gaff who has had an exemplary 9 year career - then made 1 mistake.

I really have no comprehension how any reasonable person could make such a harsh moral judgement on a person who made 1 terrible spur of the moment decision in 9 years.

Frankly I think your comment is ridiculous.

I doubt this conversation is interesting to most but why do you think a unilateral option to terminate offends against the general rules of contract? There are termination for convenience clauses in many contracts. They depend on the wording of the clause but I doubt that's going to be an issue here.

No, wouldn’t need to. Where have I said I would?

He’s not worth 2 first rounders. I’m merely saying what elite players are there that would be worth 2020 and 2021 1st rounders?

My comment was directed at the fella who said West Coast would want 2 first rounders for Gaff to let him go....
My reply was that we should go to market next year with 2 firsts next year rather than spending two firsts on Gaff...sorry for the confusion

What, the incredibly harsh moral judgement of "Meh, not much of a Gaff fan myself"?

Frankly I think you getting offended by my comment is ridiculous, but each to their own.
