Here is my thoughts on the way the day pans out.

Kelly & 36 to the Eagles for picks 14, 24 and their 2020 first-rounder.

Pick 24 to the Saints for Steven

Pick 24 to the Swans For Jones (maybe something else from the Saints as well?)

Papley and pick 24 to the blues for 9 and 41 (?)

Pick 24 to the Suns for Martin

Near enough is good enough on step 1, hopefully it sets pick 24 away on its journey.

It can easily be argued that they should have coughed up last year.

I don't think they had the currency to Satisfy them last year. They wanted a top 10 pick for Kelly (if memory serves me right). There first pick was Pick 28 and 2019 First Rounder (Pick 14). To be fair he wasn't that established compared to now.

People are fixed with prior trades as a benchmark and these stupid points rating.

West Coast are on the doorstep of a flag. They’ve identified that JK has 12 months left in him before he’s done. Kelly makes a huge difference to their team, especially after losing Rioli.

They win the flag next year and all they have Geelong is worth it.

Claiming west coast got reamed is ludicrous.

Geelong got a whole heap of picks but they’ve gone backwards with the loss of Kelly.

It’s about flags people, not point ratings of picks

I know they’re procrastinating, because regardless of the length of the trade period, the vast majority of trades get pushed until the last day or two. They’re all just working to the deadline.

If you’re haggling over trade value for 48 hours, how much is going to change after that time? But there’s no incentive to get the deals done until they have to be.
Why does it matter? Trade period is about getting deals done, not satiating fans desires for immediate results. The deadline is used as a negotiating tactic.

If anything it should be longer. Then clubs would be able to officially discuss deals instead of pretending no discussion happens before then.

The Kelly trade may very well kick off our trade period. Something like this:

Pick 9 & 2020 2nd rounder to geelong for picks 14 & 17

Picks 14 + 43 & 2020 third rounder to Sydney for papley, picks 25 & 62

Pick 25 for Martin

Later pick for betts

IN: pick 17, 62, papley, Martin

OUT: pick 9, 43, 2020 2nd rounder, 2020 3rd rounder

Note: I’m not saying the swapping of picks will be exactly as per above but would be along those lines.

Would leave us pick 17 & 2020 first rounder to have another crack elsewhere

It’s worth it for west coast, they’re in the flag window just like Richmond and Tom Lynch...
Huge signing for West Coast.

Imagine if NicNat gets back to his best.

Scary midfield.
