We definitely have not seen the best of Bam Bam at this stage. With a big pre-season under Jack Russell and hopefully injury free. We could next year suddenly finding ourselves with another big-bodied mid to help Crippa. Matt will step up, imo.
After spending the last 3 drafts focusing on midfielders, that should all be ripening nicely by 2020. Hopefully we won't need to spend 2 first round picks on a big fish next year to assist Crippa at stoppages. If a free agent wants to jump on board the Teague-train, then that'll be just cream on top.
I don't support banking picks for next year, would rather spend 'em now on small forwards.

Reckon the kids would prefer to get drafted first, which is why it shouldn't be that way. You'd end up with a bunch of kids tanking their exams because they got picked up by an AFL club and reckon the academic stuff can piss right orff, and you'd get a bunch of kids who missed out on getting drafted who'd be gutted and would have to try and get their heads right to complete a bunch of exams.

I thought of this and I think it's a question of character and work ethic. The ones who have it will want to work hard and do well at whatever road they take. The ones who don't probably wouldn't get drafted anyway, or if they did, would not last long in the AFL system.

Sorry, does that sound too harsh?

I was a terrible student myself. Somehow I still ended up with a teaching degree... ;)

And that folks is why he is known as
brane.org

Pity he can’t spell

Ahhhhhh... that's how you say it. I thought it was;
brane - do - torg.... or
braned - otorg

Got to say i am very much looking forward to what Mr Stocker has for us next season. Has all the attributes that could make him as good as Dangerfield. Maybe better.
I hope you are not implying he'll be an A grade tosser.

Bookmarked for my 2022 'shit people say' thread 😆..

Edit; I think he'll be a fine player.

Just on Jack, I think his best position is Patrick Cripps' position tbh. We've been hanging out for someone to take that back-up Centre role and I think Jack is the guy for that job. I liken JSOS to Josh Kennedy (Syd) in that he's a potential first team Centreman that's playing behind an AA Centreman, like Kennedy was at Hawthorn back in the day. Matthew Kennedy is a Medium Forward and I don't think he'll ever be the bull midfielder that we were hoping he'd become. I hope I'm wrong on that, but that's how it's tracking at the moment.

See I think you could be right, but when you also add McKay and Curnow to the mix, I think it starts to look unbalanced.

It's too many bigger blokes wanting the ball coming to them, and would be better off replacing one with a more defensive, supporting mindset. Not saying the others can't do that at all, but I don't think it's "their game", whereas Jack seems really well suited to playing the "team" role and drawing a defender, and then being ready to switch to a defensive forward role when the ball hits the deck.
Agree with all that but jsos needs to improve his overhead marking ability. It’s one thing that is dragging him down in forward line. Good on most other aspects.

IMHO Stocker is already a better kick than Dangerfield.......
Not sure what you are basing this on. He hasn’t played many senior games. He could be anything and only time will tell where he ends up....hopefully better than danger. We know he has mongrel so that’s a great start as that is something we are lacking atm.

Two pre-seasons and a season in the VFL/AFL working on his endurance and the defensive side of his game will have Stocker ready to play AFL this year. He has shown he has neat skills, can find his own ball and won't shirk anything. Fully expecting 12-15 games from him this year.

I know we never have a full list, however I am looking forward to a change of luck (touch wood) and seeing a lot more of the following players, who all played limited games in 2019:

  1. Cuningham
  2. Doc
  3. Williamson
  4. Jones
  5. Charlie
  6. Stocker
  7. Kruez
  8. Marchbank

That's eight pretty handy players who maybe played a total of 50 games in 2018 PLUS Eddie, Newnes & Martin.

Makes us considerably stronger.

While I admire the optimism, Dangerfield is potentially the best player in the game, can we please chill with stating that our late first rounder that has barely gotten on the park may be better than him? [emoji23]

Exactly right agree, comparing our youngsters to champions of the game is just ridiculous we can thank the relentless media over exposure.
Stocker will be a good player in time , has shown some good signs, small steps for him now, hasn’t even began to play against men regularly yet.

One of my work colleague's son is best mates with Matty Rowell.

She confirmed that he is a MASSIVE Blues supporter (as is her son), goes to heaps of our games etc.

We should definitely be in his ear already about joining us after his 2 year stint at the Suns.

Good God I could imagine that trade.

SOS: "How about 2 top 10 picks?"
Cockroach: "Pfft. We've already got 6 of those. 2 zeroth rounders or no deal."

They'll take his passport when he gets to the Gold Coast. I hear that's part of the induction at GCS now.

As big a blues fans as Brendan Goddard was who grew up with a Stephen Kernahan poster on his bedroom wall.

 ;)

This talent drain and poaching of GCS players has to stop!

Willing to make an exception for Rowell (and Martin) though ;)
