As the sole billy-giver of the winner I believe I have been honoured with the title MASTER OF OILS.

Keep in mind people, Back One Out has appointed me Czar of the Song Contest, everything has to be approved by me first.

Wasn't the last Czar executed after a revolution? I wouldn't be wanting that job if I were you.

a person appointed by government to advise on and coordinate policy in a particular area.
"the former British drugs czar"

Czar as opposed to Tsar, there's a reason I wouldn't want to be Nicolas II.

They're the same word, otherwise it's like saying that Mao Tse-tung and Mao Zedong are different people

I'm this Czar:

a person appointed by government to advise on and coordinate policy in a particular area.
"the former British drugs czar".

Not this one:

an emperor of Russia before 1917.
"Tsar Nicholas II"

Yeah, repeating yourself doesn't make it any different. "Czar" is the older spelling of the word now generally spelt as "Tsar", just as "Tse-tung" is the older spelling of the name now generally spelt as "Zedong". They come from different transliterations of Russian and Mandarin respectively.

There's two meanings of Czar as I've mentioned. Both political but different nonetheless.

In with the winner, get ready for "Australian bands with lead singers who went on to become government ministers"

this is close enough

Yeah, two meanings and spellings of the word Tsar/Czar, but they're the same word. Swap them in your definitions and they mean exactly the same thing. The Guardian style guide even recommends that Tsar is used in all instances of the word, because it is the more modern transliteration.

Bloody hell, dont you start.
Its one word and one meaning.

I'm willing to give him 'meanings' in the sense that there are two contexts where it is used, literal and metaphorical, but no more than that. But they are the same word and I will argue this till the cows come home.

You are being generous in the extreme.
Using a term metaphorically doesn't change its meaning.

I do however understand where you are coming from, a very weak argument could be made that it has two meanings- no argument could be made that its two different words.

Ok... I'm mistaken, they are the same word. That said, the tsar I am is the metaphorical one.

SSwans2011 , apologies for posting that stuff about you being insufferable. I enjoy reading your forthright opinions on music even though I sometimes get a bit salty. You can make me feel old when you dismiss the classic bands I love from the past and then canonise the rap superstars in your next paragraph. You have a dogmatic way of expressing your opinions, but I’m the same, so it’s a hypocritical of me to say that you’re arrogant & opinionated.

No harm meant by it. I was being a douche. It just shits me when people online generalise about music fanbases or football fanbases as “insufferable” as though we’re all separate species when in fact, we’re all alike.

I wouldn’t have a problem with someone saying “football fans are insufferable the way they act like little children and blame the umps when their teams loses” or “concert goers these days are insufferable the way they hold their phones up and block my view filming something which should be be enjoyed right now”

Those are valid generalisations to make. But I don’t see the validity in singling out Midnight Oil fans or Fall Out Boy fans or Queen fans as though they’re all alike and exhibit uniquely annoying behaviours.
No worries. I enjoy the dogmatic responses. I tend to be hyperbolic on here, particularly in debates. Find it is much more fun that way, because there's really no point arguing about music anyway. I don't actually think MO's fanbase is insufferable, like I said, I'm a fan myself. IMHO Australians do tend to go a bit OTT when it comes to classic Australian bands, but we're certainly not alone in doing so.

No need to apologise for virtually anything you say to me in here. I see it as all being in good fun.
