See the thing is, its not unprecedented in our society for choices to be taken away (or restricted) from people, where the harm caused by their choice is considered "excessive" and "unacceptable" to a wider cross-section of society.. see drugs, guns, etc. The reason gambling is allowed is simple, the money generated outweighs the negative social outcomes to a point where we find it stomachable to wear the costs. Same thing for tobacco products.

A little less bottom line and a little more humanity wouldn't go astray.

As the saying goes..... it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
