I absolutely agree. I am just not going to passively sit back while many in here make ridiculous claims about how far ahead Doc is from Dean. That is simply untrue.

I think he is and this is why -

Time compacts ones' memories. I recall Dean having plenty of so/so games, whereas Docherty just doesn't lose.
Docherty is relatively young and shows the propensity to only get better. All too early to make any real call, but for me.....Docherty.

If you asked me right now who I'd sooner have in this team......Docherty......pretty easy call. Does that matter though? Not in the slightest

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and elaborate further. The umpires train at our home ground. They spend a fair bit of time with our players. I think it breeds familiarity and is in no way a benefit to us having them there.

I was dirty on losing Jack so early and the fist to make him earn the possession was definitely there. Pretty unfortunate to cause that sort of damage though. Just the right spot at the wrong time with Jack opened right up in his kicking action. This sort of action happens all the time. A bit of old timey rib tickling I think, not an outright attempt to injure.

That's what you want from your big bloke after being around best on ground a few games running. As much as him smashing everyone every week would be fun, it's not a reasonable ask.

Better by far for the opposition to get the jump on him early - after having done their homework - and for him to rise to the challenge. The last few clearances we won from the centre were off his boot; he took it on himself to get us forward. Big respect.
