The Victorian Labor government has introduced a bill to parliament that coupled with other measures is one of the most egregious attacks on civil liberties seen in war or peacetime.
The Bill would allow people to be detained indefinitely and give sweeping powers to untrained people to become “authorised officers” with sweeping powers to arrest and detain fellow Victorians.
Called the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Amendment Bill, it overrides all other laws and legislation with the exception of the Charter of Human Rights (which the government ignores as it is not binding), the State Constitution Act 1975 and the laws created by the Bill itself.
The Bill confers and extraordinary power to the Secretary of the Department of Health to appoint public servants as “authorised officers” with the same powers as police.

Ohhh dear.

Pastor who prayed for 'no masks' lands in ICU with COVID-19
Washington Post

When coronavirus cases began increasing in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in late July, Pastor Paul Van Noy prayed with his congregation that the city council would not pass a mask mandate.

"I don't want to be told I have to wear a mask," he said at the lectern. "We're adults and we don't need the government to tell us what to do."

A little over a month later, he and his wife contracted the virus and he has landed in the hospital's intensive care unit struggling to breathe, he said in a statement this week.

"I haven't taken this covid seriously enough," his wife, Brenda, said on Facebook September 4, shortly after her husband was admitted to the ICU.

To think he wanted 12 months to enforce this BS too (until September 2021). When his 6 months is over, I'm assuming all this goes away?

I'm really hoping this all ends the leftist hold on the state of Victoria. What was that quote again about socialism and the problem with running out of people's money? We're getting a good taste of it now, they're a bunch of twisted idiots. If Dan and his crew ran their own country without a series of other states to bail them out, where would they be? On the road to Venezuela?

Have a look at the guy, well and truly overweight and getting on age wise.

Reality - his wife should have said her husband doesn't take his health seriously enough. Apart from being obese (by the looks), what else has he got? If you choose to be unhealthy and lazy (through freedom to eat rubbish and not exercise), you take your chances if not taking precautions... he's learning the hard way.

With freedoms come responsibility. What better time to promote good health, but no. I've still not seen one article highlighting the link to poor health, and encouragement for people to improve their health. In fact, lockdowns promote weight gain, more alcohol consumption, less exercise, etc. Blame the virus, when all those having problems have comorbidities.

Agamben says, “State sovereignty can only affirm itself by separating bare life from its form in every sphere.” (Bodies, P. 213.) At the same time, “because power today has no form of legitimization other than emergency, [it] everywhere and continually refers to it, and, at the same time, secretly works to produce it.” (Bodies, P. 209.)

So even Conspiracy theorists who don't isolate etc oh FFS!!

This is now beyond disturbing and sick, it's not about a Pandemic that's for sure........ anyone still agreeing with this needs to be shot Dan included.

It's starting to go really deep, I can't even comprehend what laws have & are secretly being passed by the national/state governments since the whole thing began.

It's interesting how much influence Bill Gates has on this whole saga & he has no qualifications in medicine or on health , Yet I've never seen him wear a mask, No images are available of him wearing one as well.

Gates acknowledged the level of resistance in some communities to mask wearing as well as to being vaccinated, noting that that resistance for some is linked to conspiracy theories about the ...

Hey let’s shut the place down again.. unreal.

It's basically just political now. Only when election decisions come back will we know for sure what public sentiment is, then things may change.

Politicians and the media set the fear bar very high, all the statistics coming through now are debunking it. The longer this nonsense continues, the more it's exposed. The only people still on board are left political dumb, dumbs, and those who are unhealthy.

In reality, those unhealthy should have been worried before this virus. It's the height of laziness and irresponsibility to expect the government to take on that burden for you, even if they want to. After all, it gives them a purpose.

Yep those obese poor eating habits are coronavirus main target.. maybe companies like Monsanto need to be targeted and let’s create a healthy lifestyle for everyone. Let’s face it they have a cure and it can be managed.. people aren’t buying the bs anymore.

Said some truths.

Respect
The problem with the Ablett types is all the covid crazies can point at them and use it to kill any debates.
Fwiw illumanti just means the illuminated ones or wise ones. They were a group of scientists and intellectuals in the middle ages who took on the influence of the church. In particular the Catholic Church.
Hard to see how they would have any influence now.
This is more government and their entities using the virus to grow their influence and power and reduce ours.

If you're not a socialist at 20 you have no heart.
If you're still a socialist at 40 you have no brains

Says sorry and no fines for Afghanistan family who “broke all covid rules”...

Laughable stuff really.

Meanwhile in Sydney Aussies had over the 20 people limit by 4 people and coped a huge fine..

Sum ting wong.

Not everyone who is unhealthy agrees with Dan. Some take full responsibility for their health even if it isn't good due to poor lifestyle choices. Plenty of stupid do-gooders though that think they can speak on their behalf.

Correct, as with the example in this situation.

Freedoms must be maintained, it should be a choice whether people wear a mask or not. If businesses wish to enforce it in their stores, fine.

And yes, it's a hallmark of the left to use those they consider oppressed or underprivileged (includes fat people) as pawns in order to tell everyone how much more they care about others than you. Therefore making them righteous and superior.

Someone who pays no tax apparently cares for the environment more than I, simply because they say so, and walk down the street for 2 hours once a year holding a climate change sign. My $40k+ I contribute every year in income tax means nothing.

No doubt this will be passed and the complacent weak sheep in Stockholm Syndrome Melbourne will lap it up.

Australians have become weak gutless fat compliant PC controlled zombies

How can there not be at least a few senators on the Labor side who think this is bullshit and just vote it down? This is extraordinary.
This needs court or federal involvement. It won't stop otherwise.

There would be a HEAP of Labor people completely against a lot of what's happening.

Example - https://www.afr.com/policy/economy/...tself-into-a-lockdown-blunder-20200916-p55w1z

"Last week I quit my job as an economist in the Victorian Department of Finance and Treasury so that I would be free to speak out against the state’s management of the COVID-19 infection." - Sanjeev Sabhlok

They want to keep their jobs though, I would assume most think that Andrews' days are numbered once the full reality of what he's done comes to light.

It's now for a decent period and not 14 days, FMD when are people going to wake up to this liar.

Mr Andrews has said his government would make a decision on easing Melbourne's restrictions only when the 14-day average was under 50 "for a decent period".

Goalposts have already changed.
