Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

To be devil's advocate for a second... to those getting amped up about getting Kelly and Williams from the Giants;

Have these blokes been able to get it done in big games in what is a better midfield than ours?
Is the rest of the Giants list better or worse than ours?
Are they better coached than us?

Not saying they aren't really good players, but they are certainly not the silver bullet that rockets us to the GF. Most of that has to come internally, from what we already have. I think our ability to do that remains to be seen. Our biggest issues moving forward are our defensive work and stopping runs against us, which go a little hand in hand. Kelly and Williams (offensive types) are certainly not aiding us in that area...
I would argue that our biggest issue is conserving possession, whether going forward or down back. And attack is its own form of defence.

Kelly and Williams would provide speed, accumulation, and transition; they make us so much better it is positively an outrageous statement you're making here. Would we concede so many of these 5 goal runs if instead of going through these periods of games in which we pepper the forward half with ball and dominating proceedings without scoring, we've the players to turn that from a goalless term into a 2-3 goal quarter, minimum?

Kelly and Williams are exactly what we need this off season. These 2 alone would do it but not getting my hopes up.

Kelly is a long shot.

Look you guys we all know kelly isn’t coming.
Realistically we can get Williams and maybe saad. Think crouch may be an option. We could end up with a few fringe players and Williams or saad only. Like all the other trade periods. So I’m gonna calm my farm and suggest you do the same.

I don’t want to be a pessimist, but after the letdown of last offseason (admittedly we did end up getting Martin for free so the disappointment was eased eventually) I am not getting my hopes up either.
Williams being a FA is a little more cause for hope as it’s not reliant on another team coming to an agreement. The Saad talk concerns me greatly as we all know how much of a douche Dodoro is to deal with. Even if Saad nominates us we are obviously not guaranteed to get him.
So while I’m not resigned to the fact that we will come up empty handed, I am also reluctant to get too excited.

Maybe just maybe...., the failure from Dodoro to accept 2 first rounders last year for Daniher might cause a rethink of strategy with an emphasis on getting picks/talent in instead of playing hardball.

Worsfold has mentioned a few times about not having access to draft picks or enough young talen.... can’t help but think he was referring to the clubs recruiting strategy and in particular the failure of Dodoro directly.

Extreme pressure on Dodoro to rectify his mistakes and get picks/talent in.

Not saying you are wrong, but google says he is out of contract at end of 2020. [emoji2369]

I'm confused

This is from 2018 ...

McGovern, 23, requested a trade to Ikon Park last month, despite extending his contract at Adelaide through to the end of 2020 in August last year.

Contracted until end of 2023.

The following thread is more accurate than anything google or sites like Footywire will have.

I'd like to think that if Norf have also talked with Saad's management, and they could mention PSD, that could help shake things loose... I'd be happy if we just got Williams... If any other such as Saad or Graham, I'll be very happy... With Charlie and Newman back next year, plus addition of Kemp, and at least one other player making the jump, I'm not so down on next year's prospects...
