Impossible to tell, but the turnaround has been significant since Williams, Richardson and Yze were brought in. Roos had them humming prior to the handover to Goodwin too.
Had them humming? Not sure about that. They won 4, 7 and 10 games in the 3 seasons under Roos, then 12 and 14 in Goodwin’s first 2 seasons before the disaster 2019 season, which really was the only really bad season they have had under Goodwin.
I also recall Roos getting lambasted for referring to the club he coached as “they” after a series of poor results, as if to distance himself from their lack of success.
Roos was a good coach but let’s not make him out to be the second coming of Norm Smith.

I would be shocked if an OOC player requested a trade to his home state, requested a specific team, had the club come out and say "we're aware he's requested a trade and will do our best to trade him to where he wants," only for him to then not want a trade and re-sign with the original club.
While not in context of returning to home state, IINM I can think of 2 instances a long while ago in which something similar happened; Andrew Walker to Adelaide; and, Thornton to Hawks. Both changed their mind and re-signed after CFC refused to trade them. i think in both instances, players were OOC.

How could you possibly know this. Another pearl from Earl.

It doesn't take a genius. Blind Freddy can see how under developed some of our talent is.

This might be one of those rare cases.

West Coast's cap situation is perilous. SPS could be forced to take massive unders on a backended deal to get home.

Not trying to argue for the sake of it, but Melbourne is almost as close to Halls Creek as Perth is. Hardly going home.

He did board in a Perth for a few years, but has lived in Melbourne longer.

Jordan Russell, not Andrew Walker.

Sorry, further on McQualter. Was a development coach at Richmond until 2016 when he became midfield coach. Tigers had their stars in Martin, Cotchin and Prestia, but their lesserlights in Lambert, Ross, Graham and co, really helped them to premiership success. I'd be okay for McQualter to take our next tier mids and turn them into important role players in that midfield.
Also interesting that McQualter may have been spoken to in regards to senior role by our panel and is/was one of those Lyon planned to bring.

Cook would know how Grigg is going. Probably need at least one younger assistant to balance soft cap. I'd look at Nathan Jones as another option.
Tigers also keen on Chaplain for defensive role. Currently with Dees? Voss would have connection from Port and Cook would know if Scarlett worth chasing.
