Koepka and Thomas round 1 leaders $26 each and smaller bets on Hideki and Bryson at $36.
Normally dont like to try back the winner til at least two days have gone by, good luck if you can find the winner 4 days early.

This is early days, but Hole 1, from the first 20 players on course, have shot bogey or worse:9 players so far.

There is value i reckon in backing players to Bogey or do worse on the first hole at around $4 or so.

Sungjae , DJ, Cam Smith, Zalatoris all decent performers in the last couple of years= all doing well.

McIlroy +1 after 16 holes. I reckon there is a bit of danger now for him to missing the cut

Had a nibble on Varner III @ 100/1

In the red, 4 shots off the pace on his debut. Can only see him getting better from here.

Gotta be within 7 shots of the leader at the end of the 1st round to win the tournament, speaking from a history perspective. Any further back and your just backing the numbers.

McIlroy real lucky to get that break on the 18th hole.

I do still get that feeling he could implode tomorrow and miss the cut all together or he could pull a rabbit out of the hat and play real well on his irons. Think his weakness maybe his short game . Would want a bit more than 36 to win at outrights right now.

Looks like you need some company..?

Observations:

Opened and finished with doubles but shot 8 under in-between - what could of been for Cam Smith..? Smith also had to endure being stuck in a 2-ball with the slowest golfer on the planet..!

Scheffler and Johnson are well placed and should be in the last groups on Sunday and good to see all the Aussies are in touch, specifically young Lee on debut shooting +1...

A solid opening round by Tiger, but the related media fawning is a bit over-the-top - not fit enough to play, then don't..!

Pet peeve every year - the invite policy for former champions, it should expire once you turn 60yo! Do we really need to see Sandy Lyle and similar old boys struggle to break 90..? FFS, give these spots to some young aspiring golfers, national amateur champions etc...

I agree with the former players. You know they arent going to make the cut offs and plus your taking up the spots of potential good players, up and coming players. They probably in all likelihood take up 7-8 spots of the 90-91 players competing.

Small nibble on Bubba Watson Top 10, Harman Top 20 (including Ties) @ 58.72 at the Start of Day 2

Both players 2 shots off from what I would like , Watson a Top 10, Harman a Top 20.

Harman the leftie from Georgia- he is a local and yep at those odds thats too good to pass up for me.

HUGE Save from McIlroy on the 3rd

would have been a long shot to save the Par there.
