It takes years to build strong consistency into a game plan and execution. Voss has done much better than expected with a lot of injuries to key positions, but there is no substitute for continuity. I think the wet exposed some of the lighter framed players and less experienced players last night - Richmond enjoyed the tap on scragging kick routine because that is how they play the game - wet conditions detracted from Carlton's lesser players ability to play clean football and allowed for Richmond's soccer game to score by taking territory - they were accurate in front of goals and Carlton were horrible in teh first quarter and that ended up being the difference.

I don't think there is much to learn from last night regarding the game against Fremantle- except we go into another game one ruck short and one key defender short of serious. However a dry deck certainly suits the less experienced players at Carlton.

Collingwood beating Melbum was a huge blow to Finals as was St Kilda's win.

OUTS: Martin, Surdin*
IN: Honey, Kemp*

Hope Surdin is ok and it was just precautionary, played well tonight...

Owies on noticed, got absolutely pantsed by Baker...
Owies on baker was an absolutely dreadful coaching move.

Should have played baby Durdin on him and tagged him out of the game. Has speed and hardness.

Baker was as good for them as Saad was for us.

Our entires and inability to convert the 50/50
set shots really hurt us

I reckon the boys would be filthy today

It’s hard to do when you are already allowing them a spare behind the ball. It’s so easy for them to just allow Rioli to play as the outlet instead of Baker.

Freo with Fyfe against our midfield which is getting smashed at the coalface.

definitely not unbeatable, they're playing good footy but we can match anyone at the moment. Backline is holding up as well as you'd hope with the manpower missing, fwd line can match it with anyone, we just need the mids to get back to their best

ill be tipping freo but they can beaten

Ones I've spoken to are. The hate for that playing group (Tigs) is real.

Our boys were spitting chips last night.

Might have calmed down a bit this morning. [emoji51]

That was the other clear structural issue.

That said, Baker is much better than rioli. Happy to let rioli beat us. Not the guy who was earmarked by just about everyone to be a huge threat pre-game.

We have to change our over reliance of handball as a our first thought time to use the footy especially under the roof with longer more precise kicking.

Let's hope Dow,Setterfield,Kemp,Honey,Stocker,Carroll,Hayes,Philp,Mirkov,Motlop can all play blinders so we actually have players we can bring in to the seniors that are hungry and in form.

Fingers crossed Cerra can come back against his old side and have his revenge and S Durdin's knee is ok as he was serviceable except one silly kick out from the backline.

Will watch tonights seconds game with the hope some of the above can push hard for selection and provide some options to replace yet another injury we have sustained in game with Martin/Durdin.

Said it last night. Outcoached.

Voss has been very good overall but was dealt a lesson last night.

Poor forward structure
Players started flat as a tack
Presumably he backed the players to use their skills early? Can only imagine the infatuation with firing the pill around was a directive as it was so incredibly prevalent.

He needs to coach out our deep-seeded self doubt in any big meaningful game (this might take years).

Despite injuries, should have beaten Collingwood and the Tossers.

Don't like our chances next week but desperately need to win 1 of the next 2, and then take care of business in Perth (particularly because I'm going🤣)

It’s hard to know what to do with the midfield. TDK is just getting dominated in the ruck contest every week so maybe we need a bit more speed in there but they probably have to be more quick, defensive minded players and we just don’t have those.
Our forwards were just beaten by a great backline tonight and our backline held up as well as you could hope.

I guess we are going to have to bring in Kemp for Durdin but I’d leave it at that. We just don’t have the answers to our problems atm. (Injuries the main reason why)

TDK looks absolutely gassed. We need Pittonet back ASAP.

If Martin misses, I really hope Motlop and/or Honey put their hand up tonight.
Maybe even Philp.
Honey looked rusty last week but still does a few special things

This guy right here if can get fit will be our Breust let's hope he can get some form in the seconds tonight and push hard for Martins spot. I also would like to see Philp have a big game and take Owies spot as we need speed at the feet of H and Charlie Owies looks buggered may need a rest.

Good call. Has the same sideways movement.
