So can Hollands be potentially banned for this like was mentioned in that Smith article? Not really well versed in this area of the rules...
Nah, Smith had it in his system on match day so unless his b sample is clear he is in for a long stint on the sidelines.

EH will just have to front court and say ‘yes sir, I’m sorry sir’ and he will walk out with no conviction.

But a strike, or another, for the AFL’s policy you’d think.

Makes sense why he’s come on the cheap. I’m not too worried about this. Back our culture to get him on the straight and narrow and playing some good footy. It’s strangely comforting that this is the reason he came cheap, rather than his ability. Low risk, high reward pick up.
Honestly it wouldn’t make a difference, the clubs are aware how much drug use goes on amongst players, not that they’d like it obviously, but they’re realists.

Peter O’Farrell will represent him in court, we will probably come out of it with no conviction and a future 3rd round pick thrown in…..

Fair chance that half of the players in the league have had a strike at some point.

So that's not a big deal.

If the charge is just possession he'll be fine. Club knows, no doubt there is some counselling lined up or already completed.

Drugs are a fairly normal thing for most young people, and as far back as you'd like to go humans have been finding weird things to ingest.

The WADA ban is for testing positive in-competition, it's a separate regime to the state drug laws
Joining WADA was a huge mistake IMO, was political bs & the AFL rolled & took the money instead of protecting the game/players.
There’s very good reasons why a number of the biggest sporting leagues aren’t signatories to it.

Get put onto a diversion program. Once he completes the program, any reference to his conviction will be removed... that's if what I am remembering about it is right.

diversion is an alternative to a conviction I believe...........

If the AFL hadn't joined WADA, Essendon would have gotten away with doping their players. And most of the "big" sporting leagues are based in the US. That's why they have their own anti-doping system.

A second strike means the player gets named publicly - not sure if that is the case here or if the club is just getting ahead of it and it is a first strike
