Yeah it’s obvious what the media are doing but we should know better not to give a * about it, good or bad.
Even though we have a tonne of injuries, I still believe we had the talent out there to do the job tonight. But there's something wrong with our system, plus footy IQ (eg: how many blind handballs to players under pressure, etc).

I think I could have more impact in the stands than Fantasia has on the ground. That isn't a like for like comparison.
He gets a game before a heart and soul player.
Ok, so they went for speed over someone who tackles hard, takes contested grabs and can win his own footy - but seriously?
Absolutely f... useless!

I wasnt aware - Bucks said it during their prematch waffles

Around 2/3 of scoring is achieved by the turnover game - not from stoppages

An area we need to get much much better at.

But it requires some sophistication and palyers with some level of footy IQ - things we dont have in abundance

I mean how far can we go when one of our best in walsh just dump kicks?

Plenty of other examples

Played crap, lost by a goal.. learn and move on

For how long? Played crap, gave up a shocker to Crows. Move on. Played crap, woeful defence, missed our chances, lost to Cats. Roll up tonight in a must win blockbuster… look slow, stagnant, lose.

Now is our time. We should be winning now. Not still learning.

So our team is either too ****ing stupid to learn, or the team - or plan - isn’t good enough.

We’ve had enough time to learn lessons.

BTW I agree we’re close. That’s what is infuriating. We look like crap and lose by a goal to a good team. We have that much talent we should be winning the flag this year, not building and learning.

The quiet part was really about Cerra. We've been waiting for him to come back. Effectively made Kennedy sub for him, and he was average.
Would have thought making the guy who just came back from injury as sub would make more sense. I would have rathered Kennedy's grunt and versatility earlier in the game.

Curnow needs to pull his head in, go and model himself on Jeremy Cameron. Looks like the biggest FIGJAM going around this year.

Also another hamstring injury… that’s what, 4 or 5 in the space of 2-3 weeks? Andrew Russell has some explaining to do. Getting paid a lot of money for our boys to look gassed and constantly ping soft tissue injuries
Not complaining about this one though. He's been pretty crap all bar 1 or 2 games.
Give me Boyd, Cincotta and Cowan any day.

1. Collingwood backed themselves by flooding the contests with 2 more players around the contested area all night - Carlton mids not good enough to beat that set up - didn't help that Kennedy was a sub instead of being a mid rotation where the action was all night.

2. They starved Carlton of the ball for large parts of the game.

3. Lost by a goal.

Lost an important game.

Players:

Cowan had a much better game this week than last. Cincotta hasn't been played for a while and I understand why. Fantasia? yeah naaah not on form displayed tonight...

Young - just the usual - nothing. Williams possibly teh worst game ever for Carlton and topped off by another injury - he is a fail sorry to say.

Moments: Harry's silly short kick to even numbers and COllingwodo away - when the obvious one was a long deep kick to a one on one you know with charlie being one of them one on ones

Learned NOTHING - too many players below average footy IQ.

Hate to say this but I think not countering Collingwood's extras around contests was bad match day coaching.

Besides the fist quarter we were outplayed , the last quarter we didn’t look like winning that and were just lucky they butchered the ball on goal.

Obviously McKay had a good game kicking 4 goals, but why would you ever kick the ball in the corridor like that. Like durdin chipping the ball inside 50 to nobody instead of going long when we needed a score with a minute left in 22 to make the finals (yes i hadn't forgotten). It's these moments where players just don't have footy smarts.

They had their opportunity and they blew it again (didn’t deserve to win it but had a chance).

Just this slow football and then bombing down the line has got to stop it does not work and is predictable. Teams kill us on the turnover and it looks so easy for them to score where we have to grind out goals.

Honestly it's really feels 50/50 if we make finals at this stage (could easily be 5-5 with Melbourne and Sydney at SCG to come) we don't play well for long enough and against the better teams you will be found out.

Think a few hard truths and a few players need a kick up the arse.

Disappointing loss. Lucky not to lose by more.

A lot of people are blaming our lack of pace, but I think the issue is at least as much about smarts. When you're making the smart position or picking the smart option then you make the opposition react to you and look quicker. Unfortunately most of our high footy IQ players are out injured: Doc, JSOS, Martin, Saad, even Fog to an extent. If it wasn't for Newman we'd be even worse off.

Given our injuries I understand why we're having to play both Fantasia and Durdin, but there's really no excuse to have them both as starting players while someone like Kennedy is the sub. Poor selection choice there.

Harry had a poor moment at the end but apart from that was generally good. Kicked 4 and always willing to get stuck in with tackles and pressure. Charlie could learn a bit from him on that front.

Weitering excellent. Cuningham a decent return. Owies did his job. TDK did OK forward but still has work to do in the ruck. Midfield in general is the biggest source of our problems. Needs to lift.
