Salary cap will be bursting at the seams if we add Houston, keep Cerra and have to re-sign Weitering and TDK. If it has to happen then I’d rather lose him than any of Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, Harry, Charlie and TDK.

Also consider we haven't kept many first round picks for a while, trading another out for another hb in his late 20's (like we did with Saad) isn't ideal list management, in fact it's likely to be detrimental long term...

No harm in perusing if beneficial to both parties.
Young; was reportedly on the shopping list mid-year.

Cerra; has had murmurs of trade potential & re-signing (not that that means much). Could be discontent on his continual reoccurring injury time. Poor form this season when out there.

Kennedy; could have some trade value and C.Lord can fill the midfield position from underneath. A poor kick into fwd50, a big issue for the team. Had some good games but didn’t stand up as a medium forward as required. Hewett gets the not ahead of him.
Not a big loss in the scheme of things of midfield variety wanted. O & E. Hollands can also fill the breach.

Gee Houston is 28 next year, & Haynes is early 30's bringing in multiple players in that age profile & giving away picks & players is not a receipe for ongoing success.
Personally believe going to the draft hard makes much more sense, if Houston is going to be too costly we need to walk away, future 1st traded into this year makes sense.

You’re talking to people who are name dropping draftees like they are tied to the draft pick and not to luck that they will be available at that selection. Basically trading Adam Cerra for a nameless draftee is pretty damn silly. We know how good he is without the injuries and he is 24 year old. Trading him for a random 18 year old is pretty wild stuff.

As is turning Brodie Kemp into a 3rd forward after his 4 goal performance against the worst side in the last 30 years. He did shit up forward against St Kilda and Brisbane.

No use being our third best mid if he's spending the majority of the season in the rehab group...

What have we learnt from Marchbank, Cunners, Martin etc?

There's no doubt the club is very concerned about his durability... hence sending him off to Qatar...

As for Houston, I'm with you on that... but I'll extend that to getting rid of our F1 as well. People think Houston is going to solve ball movement issues, he will do so only if gameplan and midfield is improved. He is not going to nail long kicks up the wing any better than who we currently have. We need a midfield mix that spreads and opens up targets for him to hit.

I'd rather we focus on improving our midfield mix and if we're looking at obtaining R1 picks and/or trading our F1, it should be to facilitate that area as #1 priority imo.

Sure Haynes and Houstain ain’t youngsters, players these days play to mid thirties comfortably.
They would strengthen our defense, and enhance delivery to our aces Charlie and Harry.
Young talent too is very important, especially with the Tassie team addition after 2025.
So that’s why we must retain picks 11& 25, add the Comporeale lads, not to shabby a haul.

Don't think all the comments relate to purely gaining picks for a draftee, perhaps targeting other ready-made players

I agree though, if he can get his body right, we shouldn't be looking at trading him, as he does have a slight point of difference compared to other mids

I have been critical of Kemp, as a defender. As a forward against bigger opposition, he showed good signs, and might add a dangerous option playing 3rd wheel to Harry and Charlie
