Well maybe he’ll get lucky and we’ll get lucky and he’ll become a superstar.

I remember a young rookie getting lucky one year when another defender had a heart issue,.

That defender was Call Wilkie. Has not missed a game since.

You obviously didn't watch his game in the VFL last week. He did nothing to warrant promotion. He has potential just doesn't have the drive. I love the way he moves, but he just gets moved off the ball far too easily even at VFL level.

Steele 100% fit according to RTB. Let’s see how he goes Saturday. Pressure is on him.

Some random rang SEN today and said Marshall was in a moon boot all last week. Why wasn’t that reported by the track watchers? First I’ve heard.

He played like he’d been in a wheelchair all week.
Tony74 reported that he had his foot stepped on during the GWS game and missed training all of last week. Probably should have played Boyd at that point honestly.

sigh exactly what I thought it would be. Rush dougal back and do nothing to the obvious glaring midfield issue. Play that same song Ross
We’re playing the premiers. Our most experienced mids get a chance to
make amends for last week.

Caminiti is still learning so we can hopefully mould him into someone who can intercept more.

Caminiti is 2nd on the total marks list in the whole AFL, one less than Harris Andrews. Also the 6th highest average marks in the AFL. More that Sam Taylor, Tom Stewart or Sicily. 0.16 less marks per week than Harris Andrews.

Not sure what more moose can do to get a game. Gave it to keeler instead, probably think he is worth putting more time into
If he didn't get a game this week, Heath is firmly looking like a delisting at the end of the year. Keeler was near uncompetitive in the air against Port / Allir so a bit surprised we've gone with him again. I'm just glad we brought in a tall.

Keeler is the luckiest guy in AFL history. The club have basically put a line through King so they have to play Isaac regardless of his apathetic form.

Same with Sharman and Collard, both only in due to injury. He needs games and hopefully at some point things click into gear. He's obviously doing something that's asked of him to keep getting games.

Selecting Heath ahead of Keeler would mean the coaching panel would have to admit they made a mistake.

Won't happen despite the fact that Keeler has done nothing to warrant continued selection.

Very very ordinary from the selection panel.

Heath has played 1 game since returning from injury. It could just be as simple as he needs more game time at the lower level before being considered fit enough for AFL level.

Probably Byrnes. I know it's not an exact like for like (rarely selections are) but Byrnes has been spending a fair bit oftime in the back half.

Arie doesn't exactly play like a tall defender. That might give us a bit more scope to push Sinclair and Nas through the middle more if we have another disaster like last week in there.
And that's exactly the problem with Arie, he's not a tall, he's slow, he can't defend anyone. He's a liability defensively and until that changes he won't play regularly

Did the full pre season - played the first game then missed two through injury and followed up with 25 possessions, 9 marks, 7 clearances and a goal.

But yeah not match fit and jeez that Keeler "looks" a player - so lets select him despite the fact he struggles to get a possession in the AFL and did very little last week in the VFL to warrant a recall.

I don't mind giving Travaglia a bunch of games in the VFL. Did Phillipou a world of good mid last year. Although I wouldn't have mind giving Boxshall a taste considering how poor our midfield was.

Agree with all of that - though we need to be smart when to introduce Boxshall - don’t think Lions are the ideal midfield to face first up.

Boxshall keeps performing he will get his chance soon enough.

We were always going to add another tall for this week. I just thought keels was average in the vfl and looked a bit off the pace in his afl outings. Too early to write him off though. I am not sold on moose either but he was heaps better against footscray and on that game was the standout but needs to string a few together .

I would have picked Heath but not like Keeler was terrible last week. Yeah he gets moved out of marking contests to easy.

Its almost as if the coaching panel that has watched both lads train and play every week for the last 2.5 years haven’t based their selection off of one random game, and are perhaps basing selection off a body of work that nobody on here would have any clue about, and who they believe to be more capable to fill the role that they are looking for.

Cut the kid some slack, 20 year old key forward, with 2 mediocre games and 1 poor game. Obviously the coaches see something there. So many supporters have written him off and are calling him “putrid” on some platforms based off 3 games of footy. I don’t know too many 20 year old kids playing as the number 1 tallest forward with a bunch of medium forwards.
