Cannot agree with this statement unfortunately.

Played into Geelong's hands all night by kicking long down the line to allow Geelong defenders to spoil and outnumber us with the spare they play behind the footy.

And got beaten at CP, something I don't think I'd say coming up against Geelong who got smashed last week.

Kudos to PFD, I hate him but he absolutely willed them across the line.
You can’t control the game for such a long period while also stopping Geel moving the ball and then say - “we played into their hands.”
That’s just wrong.

2 posters 😞- they go through and we win...

Freo game tricky - short turnaround and long flight

This is a reset - win 4 of next 5

Then the bye and tackle run into Sept - go Pies

How does this even happen, when the rules state the boundary umpire isn't there for goal-line touched decisions...

A boundary umpire cannot make a goal line touch call during a match.

In Australian Rules Football (AFL), goal line decisions, such as whether the ball was touched before crossing the goal line or whether it was a goal or behind, fall under the responsibility of the goal umpire. The boundary umpire's role is primarily to judge whether the ball has gone out of bounds or out on the full.

How do the AFL explain this shite!!!!

Will be interesting to see how we back it up with a five day break. Last night was frustrating. We were far the better side for a large chunk of the game. But we had too many players having pretty average nights, so this is a good sign.

For me clearly our best two were Pendles & Josh Daicos. Josh off half back, his ball use and decision making elite.

Agree with all said on DeGoey. He’s really struggling and having minimal impact.

We need more out of Hill, and most definitely MCCreery.

Our wingers Lipinski , Crisp were just ok.

Cameron was solid but so was Blicavs.

Quaynor doesn’t do anywhere near enough.

Long was just ok last, but been good

Perryman has been a very good pick up. Good again last night.

Cox didn’t give us much, Membrey playing a role, Mihochek good, Elliott not helped with delivery last night.

Nick, Sidebottom were solid without being great.

Moore , was average last night, but coming off a week off.

That’s my wrap. Plenty of room for improvement, collectively and individually.

We look a very good side. Need just a more even spread, and to take our chances.

I'm not even bothering talking about this game, because it was completely destroyed by umpiring.
I'm just waiting to hear the BS come out of AFL house explaining some of the decisions made by the umpires, how a boundary umpire telling the goal umpire he thinks it was touched, a bloke who was clearly trying to insert himself in the game to be what, controversial?
The Brownlow votes should go to the umpires and hopefully Geelong give these umpires votes in their best and fairest for this game....
As a team, all l can say is that Crispy should never have been in that situation. We had control of the game, but once again, as we usually do, we give up leads meekly. It's an ongoing issue that we have, where we can't stop the opposition getting a run on and stopping their momentum.

Geelong losing to Carlton last week gave me a feeling AFL will influence this game to make it close... Geelong must make the top 8 and finals for some reason in their eyes.

Pies controlled the game and even when they lost the lead, could have gotten the lead back if it wasn't for poor set shots... and of course Umpires giving the Cats the advantage on disputed calls... All of them.

But hence Pies cannot hope to win by cruising late game. They must play as if they are behind until the siren sounds.

The umpiring was poor, but there is no AFL conspiracy. It’s just a figment of your imagination.

Who didn't see that loss coming after doing literally nothing in the second half. Yes we were desperate for the last 3 minutes but where was that for the previous 60? Letting Dangerfield run riot turning the game at will was disgusting. We got what we deserved. JDG needs to be dropped to the VFL or put out to pasture until he is actual fit and ready to contribute meaningfully as he is a liability right now.

Such a waste, never should have lost this game. We still have a way to go between the ears. The way we played in the second half reeked of entitlement. The Cats were far more desperate and earned their victory.
I would agree that Cats earned their victory if it wasn't handed to them.

The touch behind was rubbish, boundary umpire shouldn't be so confident when the video showed it didn't touch. From his angle he missed the other 270 degree view that the video covered some of showing it was not touched... at worst the umpire should have said it looked touch... but not be sure it was touched.

The Moore push on the back was play on.... because he didn't use force and almost always many other games let that as play on... not free kick in a close game. But I can live with it.

The Jamie Elliot free against in the last 90 seconds was rubbish also. That's play on... instead Umpires ensured Cats controlled the disposal.

Darcy Cameron got played like a fool in that last 10 minutes.... every hit out he got was predicted by Cats players and no Pie was close to many of his hits. And when he did get the ball, instead of being smart by bringing it down when there's no option he kicked towards boundary and or straight to Geelong players. He was directly helping Cats in that last 10 minutes whether he knew or not knew.

I hate to say it, though was this a loss that was needed or “a good loss”?

What I mean by that is for the past 6 rounds we’ve ran away with it in the 3rd quarter and just held that lead throuh the 4th. This time we were challenged by the best 4th quarter team in the comp and fell short because we didn’t take our chances.

Fly and the playing group would know this was there to be won and maybe highlight some problems that we’ve been getting away with.

We’ll be fine!
