Yes, this is it - you have to show something when it counts
My Missus barracks for Hawthorn so I see a bit of them. Watson has done nothing today BUT last week he was absolutely sensational - he simply willed himself to be part of every forward entry.
He is a year younger and has played half as many games as Mot but we all know he really has something

Historically forwards don't star every week, thinking of Wallsy this week, I remember how he could go 2 or 3 games without impacting overly but then he would be your star forward the next week
Motlop hasn't done anything all year not just one week. Big difference

Anyone who watches training, do the players train for basic skills at all? How often?

Can't find the quote but I remember someone quoting Voss saying we don't really train the fundamentals. That is the first red flag, if not anything else.
Explain to me in what world can a team train without kicking the ****ing ball mate.

Where's Accidental genius?

We got our 5 from the smalls, and we got 4 from midfield (Doc, Hollands, Cripps, Cerra). Where we were lacking was the KPF's who didn't come to the party.
Yeah i was meaning to check it out. 👍

it’s great to see our smalls score.

Doc had his best game since his return. Fingers crossed he continues this good form.

Not sure what happened with h and Charlie. they really need to do better. I’m not seeing genuine effort ..maybe H but not from Charlie. Seems to be relying too much on shear brilliance. Bit of extra work ethic hed be just about unstoppable.

Motlop cops it because we all EXPECTED him to be the pick of the smalls. The disappointment in him not putting out Watson-like numbers on the scoreboard is on par with the disappointment in the Club’s efforts since the PF loss in 2023.

the kid cops the brunt of the whack amongst our small forwards, but reality is that our small forward cohort is the worst in the league and there’s sweet FA waiting in the stands to fill those gaps.
I sit in Carltonians and had to tell someone who was allegedly a Carlton member to STFU today about Motlop.
The commentary was so out of line … yes he’s not not performing but there’s a line and so many here and at the ground cross it with impunity.

It's pretty disgusting - heard the same in our bay

Never make decisions from an emotive position or under the influence of alcohol, but FMD the way I feel atm I couldn’t care less who we cut away to pave the way for a more hopeful future. I’m just exhausted by this club

True. I’ve been in Sports Bar in Bangkok since 9am this morning.

Makes the loss easier to tolerate 🥃

Just received from the chairman
I’d just like to apologise to all our loyal members for our clubs failures

Quote we have stuffed up our rebuild and overall management
We will leave no stone unturned to get better and try and earn your trust moving forward
From now on all our games will be free entry for anyone who wants to come and see a country football team at play
Sorry to all the country leagues 😉

9 points down in the last quarter. I always think it equals tue same as 9 goals. We are no hope if kicking 2 goals to win a game, no matter how much time is left.
I had a person turn to me
And said we are a chance , I said we are not Collingwood. 9 points down Collingwood make you nervous they swarm … felt like we never had a chance

Are you insinuating that the players are leading badly, train poorly, or don’t want to perform?? Everyone’s out on the drink & Persians? Youngsters have no one to look up to? What’s the “bad culture” and where is it stemming from - please explain what you’re referring to that is so bad at the club?

Melbourne has a bad culture
Bulldogs / Bevo have (now = had) a bad culture
North have no culture
Richmond have lost their culture

Buzz word that really stacks up to nothing but unsuccessful in your endeavours in the AFL (which is winning).

I’d add Richmond to the list of winning clubs with “dubious” culture, for example:
- Bikies in the change rooms
- Rance leaving under mysterious circumstances (alleged on sleeping with a teammates girlfriend)
- Dimma cheats on Mrs Hardwick
… but does it matter when Richmond won 3 flags in 4 years?

What crap
I guess it all depends on what having a “good” culture entails. Winning or being good people? I don’t think it’s necessarily one or the other, but there are plenty of examples of that being the case as per the above and also that Carlton don’t have a winning culture but it does seems like we have a club of decent humans.

As supporters we are just as piss weak as the players if we start cancelling memberships.

I'm keeping the 4 family memberships I have and will be first to sign next year.
I’ll keep mine too.

Would imagine there will be a fair drop off again next year, if nothing changes.

I’ve noticed the crowds are getting smaller every week.

At the start of the year we would have filled the stadium today, they even sold $10 tickets and couldn’t fill it.

Problem with our team, structure and profile is that we can ill afford for our top 8 to have off to bad days. All 8 need to have excellent games for us to be a chance. Yet so often there’s at least 2 that have average games, and then couple that with a number of the rest not having good days, means we are not gonna be competitive against the good sides.

I’d rather have 22 B grade players plying consistently at their level, than 8 A grade players that can’t all show up at the same time and then a mixture of B-D players.

Can't argue with any of that, that's exactly where our list and team is right now. Unfortunately a good team, which we are not, should have a system in place to cover for an A-grader having an off day. But yeah, when a few A-graders drop off at once, things get harder to cover. Doesn't help when Weito is a bit of a lone hand down back without Newman and Silvagni there so him having an off-day is basically a death sentence.

Part of being an A grader though is all-round consistency, so there may be some A-graders not showing up consistently which could perhaps lead you to reassess whether or not they're actually A-graders. For the record though, Weito definitely has not been that.

At least by staying in the side we are ensuring Motlop has some trade value.

He must be regretting that decision to wait on signing on contract.

Ive always been a fan but gosh he has been disappointing this season.
You reckon he has trade value … have you seen how we trade players … lucky to get any pick to be honest … he has it in him , I have seen it but somewhere along the line he has lost it and we are getting a token pick for him
