Absolutely have to win 6 more out of the next 10 if we want to play finals. Its a very tall task because I don't see it happening
A couple of those question marks should be green. Beating Essendon and Carlton (at Marvel) simply should be games that are won - no matter the negativity people might feel today. If we DO manage to lose them, then there’s your sign we shouldn’t be playing finals.

Based on today the game for us the ‘sneak’ is GWS at home. Gives us six.

They should be, but they aren't. We have shown time and time again we cannot be trusted.

Typically only need 13 wins for finals so should only need 5 but every win counts. The tigers and today's game will haunt us if we miss out on finals

I thought walter looked really dangerous early, but the horrid shots on goal completely shot his confidence. I still would love to see King leading at the ball more, just waits out the back for the long bomb.
A few positives today - Flanders was back moving well, ainsworth responded and Humphrey showed again that he is going to be a superstar.

Can we just end the 3 tall experiment? Walter, King and Read are no where near the quality of Walker, Thilthorpe and Fogarty
If you want to play finals, I'm not sure you can be having two unexperienced key forwards in the team for the sake of getting games into them. But there is nobody else sadly that is experienced enough to play with King.

Choose one of Read or Walter. Simple. Then play a more mobile forward line.

Rosas or Farrar would have offered more than Budarick as well as natural forwards. Disappointed with his game and his continued selection, though happy we tried him somewhere else on the ground.

This club is soulless

Edit: I went to the game expecting a loss but after dominating the play for much of the game, to just roll over is weak as water IMO, I’m sure some will disagree
I partially agree. Previously they would have smashed up by 5/8 goals in the end we are hanging in there for longer still a few players with losing mentality
I still think we are one year off being a solid team instead of an average thereabouts team.
I still say Darwin kills our momentum

To be fair we won everything today except the game
One of our honourable losses that I am so effing sick and tired of
Its like 2012 on loop
Playing 18/19yo's in the hope they'll turn into something special
Meanwhile they wilt once the AFL intensityis ratcheted up in the last quarter
Dave Swallow plays today for either Read or Walter and we probably win
If Walter can't give Wittsy a chop out in the ruck then it's probably Read who plays at the moment even though I think Jed is ahead of him in development

Every year I say it but the dollars I have sunk into this Club since 2009 to be treated to a few back half home games once the season is over
If we can't negotiate a better fixture we may as well presume the second half of the season will be like this forever

I've been Benny Ainsworth's biggest supporter but the countdown clock on his career is ticking and unfortunately it's saying he will be remembered as so mid.
I know I bang on about this but once Izak walked we lost that game breaker
We have great players but they all have one speed-no-one who goes crazy for 15 minutes and kicks 3 when it matters
Humper just has to be that guy for us
Ben Long will have moments too
But who else?
Today is the sort of day that will have Rowell marking days off his 2 year calendar

Not currently on our list, need to get them asap this year

May have to go back to Sexton . Still think the Suns may have missed an opportunity not picking up one of the academy small forwards now at Southport a couple of years ago even as a Rookie B . I mean where are Murtagh , Conroy , Towey now , thank god the Suns moved away from that lottery policy.

Stopped watching at half time. Too stressed as we played well and had a shot to win it. Checked score at 3/4 time. 22 points up.

How did we lose it? Haha. Do I want to watch it?

Dimma was flat - we did not play moments well in the last quarter, failed set shots, GWS were accurate.

In all stats Suns had utter dominance. Double centre clearances, almost double marks inside 50, 7 more tackles inside 50, 24 more inside 50, 21 more contested possessions. Insane.

We gave them 5-6 crap goals (what was Rioli doing in the first quarter?) Really bad set shots - Walter, Long.

This one hurts. We played well on the road. GWS usually kills us there and are a very good team. We were so close and yet so far. Crap goals and failed set shots did it to us.

Anderson was awesome in the first half. I thought some ball movement in the first quarter was fantastic.

No way finals are over. We are 8:5. 6 home games where we are hard to beat.

As I said I did not watch the second half yet but I am a bit surprised by Walter's criticism. Obviously, extremely stupid set shot miss but I thought he fought well, brought the ball to ground, pressured (in the first half I watched).

The fun will start now, Demons at home and then Essendon away.

I hope players are pissed off and take it on Demons.

Surprise, surprise, Fiorini got 24% CBAs, Humphrey 38%, Miller 62%, Anderson 88%, Rowell 88%. Flanders still 0.
Noticed they used him to hold at the back of contest so they weren’t just coming out the front of stoppage

He had been doing it from the wing, but first week we saw it at centre clearance

Thought the Flanders role was awesome for him. Had the option to be 5-10m ahead or behind the contest. Depending on where Touk and Humphrey were at the time

I know people are disappointed but we did a lot right today. Basically lost it by ourselves. So frustrating. Especially considering how GWS dominated us as far as I can remember. They were up and down this year but are hitting their form now and are formidable opponent especially on the road. People don't give them credit. Beating Lions at Gabba is no easy feat.

I did like how Flanders played in the first half. I will watch the whole game tomorrow, haha.

Hey, at least Rowell is staying :) People were ready to jump onto him.

Flanders was more involved today though. Definitely building into the season. Hopefully he can get a few bounces soon.

Was surprised to see Hardwick actually put Fiorini in there. Guess he took Swallow’s role. But that was a nice change.

So, despite Green’s dominance, our midfield wasn’t the problem today though.

The forwardline was poor, especially off of set shots. Still kicked nearly 100, so we did a lot right—mostly in the first 12 minutes... But really could have put the game away when it mattered.

Still, we can’t have our three talls getting a combined 20 odd touches and kicking 2.3. Especially when Read only achieved 2 hit outs…

If Harwick’s system metrics say that this is a success, then the metrics are wrong. We’ve tried it enough. It doesn’t work consistently.

But the backline was very, very poor. Uwland was far below average and made a stack of fundamental errors. Mac made a lot of poor decisions too. Rioli and Noble were ok, but aren’t being as effective. Powell seems wasted. Collins was mostly good, but came undone in the end and Cadman got on top.

Long story short: I don’t want to see Budarick in the team for a while (3 touches, really?). And Read needs at least two weeks in a row in the VFL playing as a forward—or drop Walter and make him practice goal kicking action all week instead. Seriously, that miss should have him relegated alone.

That's essentially how I see it. Would've loved to have secured our first win in west Sydney today, but that's by far the best we've played against the Giants in a long, long time and they are a good team who were in unbelievable form going into this one after beating Brisbane at the Gabba last week. It took some ridiculously accurate goal kicking from Stringer to actually beat us today. I believe if you had played that game at PFS then we would've won and I now think we're a huge chance to beat them in the reverse fixture in round 23.

Some in the media are saying it was game of the year. That says a lot about the performance of both clubs.
