If we can't agree on a 10 goal win being good, we may as well block each otherThis!
I'm getting worried --- we're starting to agree more ....![]()
I have noticed that Jones, Cook, Berry, Soligo and Rankine amongst others thicker around the hips this year. Possibly some extra weight work to help break and lay tackles. Our ability to push off players is noticeable. Finally, something to disagree with!
We're stronger and solidly-built on every line.
I remember when you couldn't even throw your arms out in exasperation, that was insane. Its okay now but some players will scream their head off at the umpire and get nothing, while another will just argue normally and get done.I like the stand rule. Standing the mark or free kick means "Stand". Not "roam around" (think: Netball, which removes the offending player from play momentarily). Marks and free kicks are meant to give an advantage for good play and punish rule infringements, which the stand rule does.
Ticky-touchwood 50's suck, especially when the offending player is running past and not affecting the ball-carrier. In that case a 50m Penalty that can gift a goal is far too harsh relative to the 'infringement'.
I like dissent rules. Players should show some self-discipline, keep their mouths shut and get on with the game. I have never seen an Umpire reverse a decision after being abused or dissented by a player. Never, at any level. Dissent is a waste of time and energy.
Players who do that are losing their focus (the game, their opponent) and not working for the team. Umpires have long memories.
We should have a 25M penalty for minor infractions.
AFL clubs have made a mockery of the stand rule (especially us) by just running back off the mark and forcing a long dump kick anyway. Oh well.
