This needs to be the beginning though and not the end of it all. Put the PSD threat back on the table and try bring Worpel in via using it. Get rid of the soft cap as a constant argument. Ask for more AFL funding

Ahh, thought it was 5 games.

Either way, I don't think he's going to make a huge difference in our midfield vs the Crows, even if he hadn't just missed a month of footy.

It was the Sydney guy Riak Andrew in the VFL who got 5 weeks, which was probably the confusion.

Those with the biggest voice are on the East conducting the barest of analysis into this whole situation. And they don't care to change that. Kick the powerful WA club while they're down and let the Vic media consumers tug their little chodes over it.

I've seen a lot of crazy speculation on here about what priority picks we might get (mostly in the trade/draft threads). I think people need to temper their expectations. Most likely we'll get some extra rookie spots and ability to prelist NGA.

Not sure we'll get draft picks at all (previous clubs usually got something minor in year 1 and more in year 2 if they were still bottom). At best, I'd say one end of R1 (or start of R2 if AFL are managing optics). More likely they make sure Allen gives us pick 2 and we agree to shut up and take it.

It will definitely be something. The one thing he missed was not bringing up Brisbane's priority pick as Swann would look like a complete hypocrite if we were to now get nothing.

The AFL now have to respond. So the management consultants and PR officers will sit around and come up with a strategy of how to sell whatever they come up with to competing interests. Good on Pyke for putting on the table that the draft being compromised is a key reason why we are asking. Being shit is one thing, watching teams much better add better players via the draft each year as another. We do no trades and just pick Sheezel, Reid, Smith there are still teams with better draft hands that played finals. That is nuts.

I am expecting nothing, or at best maybe some extra rookie list spots or a second round pick we have to trade. Which is fine, that goes on the record of what 11 wins in 4 years gets you. Melbourne won a flag in 2021 and made top 4 in 2023, I don't want to hear a peep out of them for at least 5 years if they go where I think they are going on the ladder. But you can guarantee PPs will be a talking point if Melbourne get back to 2013 levels for just one season.
