A few coaches have either parted ways or been given the tap on the shoulder already. Some very attractive jobs available. These are off the top of my head, there is probably more

Scott Hamill - Heathmont
Gary Ayers - Montrose
Duncan Jones - Lilydale
Blake Pearson - Oakleigh
Ben Osborne - East Ringwood
Ben Wheat - Mooroolbark
Josh Allison - Fairpark
Nick Batsanis - Templestowe
Jeremy Thomas - Silvan

Some other jobs I'm interested to hear or have heard whispers

Pat Garrity FTG - I was surprised to hear he may not be coaching there next year, but it was from a drunken sometimes unreliable source. He claims he could be in trouble with some senior players unhappy. I wouldn't have given it too much credit but they haven't publicly announced hes going on in 2026, but have announced a lot of players.

Neil Winterton Mitcham - The longest current serving coach in the EFNL. Has the time come to finish up at Mitcham? Would be no shortage of suitors.

Steve Buckle Knox - Told by a good source Knox had approached a well credentialed higher division coach (unsuccessfully) and the current coach is on the nose with the some senior players. They have had a disappointing year so far so maybe finals might decide his fate.

Kyle Dove East Burwood - In a relegation battle for most of the year, we know what this usually means at East Burwood. No public announcement as yet, hopefully they get behind the current coach.
Dove is safe. Recruiting drive on.

Fairpark would have won today and been so happy until results got put up and Coldstream also won what where the chances of that happening???!

I would agree, especially since EB have been down this path too many times before.

What is concerning though, is the silence from the usual EB contributors on here.
Geez, there's not much to talk about. Dove is staying. I foresee a plethora of retirements due to the serious nature of some of the injuries. With the injuries this year (every team has them), they will underspend their budget once again. That saved $$ will come in handy with no clubrooms next year. The Rams have been competitive in most games, and could have won a couple more had things gone their way, but hey, that's footy. Recruitment is already in play, as is every other team. No club rooms are going to hurt, but we aren't the first club, and we won't be the last.

Who is retiring? Sounds like mass exits?

No club rooms next season has EB thought about moving to Central Reserve for matches and still train at EB perhaps.Waverley Blues have done this at Central Reserve this year and I hear has been a success.Play games at Central Reserve and you could even host EFNL finals I "think"OR would the biggest problem be EB are under the control of Whitehorse Council,Central Reserve is not.

It's been a tough year. First we found out we wouldn't have a ground for at least half the season and possibly the whole year. Doesn't help recruitment. Some really big injuries over the year left us without key players and an undersized makeshift ruck set up. While he gave 15 to 20 cm away every game, he really put in, but would have been much better suited as a follower. We were very competitive in most games, but usually it was one poor quarter that let us down and there were some very close losses as could be seen from having a percentage of over 100 for the first half of the season. There have been a lot of junior players from the U19's who have played in the firsts and even more in the two's. Kyle Dove gives every appearance of becoming a good coach, with a sound knowledge of the game. Our backline has been terrific, with only Templestowe having less points scored against by the opposition. We struggled up forward with the 4th worst points for. This wasn't helped by having our key big forward out for basically the first half of the season. Without rooms next year it will continue to be difficult, but once the rooms have been built and the area redeveloped, there will be plenty of opportunities for the club.

What a dramatic round of football with a heap of single digit results (and a draw) that had both finals and relegation ramifications

  • Doncaster East came from behind to overhaul Rowville by 4 points. Great to see Jay Rankin in the best players for the 8th time this season after crossing from Fairpark, he is a fantastic talent. Doncaster East keep their slight finals chances alive but realistically with Noble Park and Blackburn to come its unlikely as they would need to win both. There is a chance they could be in 5th this time next week if Vermont defeat South Croydon and they defeat Noble Park but then to hold that spot they would have to beat Blackburn. For Rowville, they cant afford anymore slip ups, they are currently 4th on percentage only. They have Mitcham next week which should be a win but finish with East Ringwood.
  • South Croydon won their 5th straight game and retain 5th spot with a 16 point win against Berwick. Its an amazing run and full credit must go to the club and coaching staff. They have Vermont and Noble Park to come. Regardless of the results this week the round 18 clash against Noble Park will have scenarios for both teams to play finals. For Berwick they are playing competitive football but have Blackburn this week before finishing off Mitchams year.
  • Noble Park had a great 13 point win against Balwyn. i think most expected Noble to lose and end their finals chances. But the win has put them right back in the race. I have previously mentioned what a great season its been for them and to make finals would be fantastic. They have Doncaster East and South Croydon to come, they could easily win both or lose both. For Balwyn they have gone WLWL in their last 4 games and have East Ringwood this week in a intriguing game. They then finish with Vermont. Balwyn will finish 3rd or 2nd and will have the double chance.
  • East Ringwood had a shocker losing to Vermont by 8 points. Id be starting to get a little concerned if i was involved at East Ringwood, this is poor form, Vermont are plodding to end of the year. I know people have said ER V VER games are always close due to the past history of the clubs but something feels slightly off. They are 2-3 from their last 5 that have losses to Berwick, Blackburn and now Vermont. They will finish 2nd unless they lose their last 2 games, they have Noble Park this week and finish and they need to make a statement.
  • Blackburn smashed Mitcham by 74 points and will finish on top. Toby Wooler kicked 12 goals in a huge performance. He is now 3rd on the division goal kicking from only 10 games averaging 4.4 goals a game and he is going to have a big say in this finals series.

  • Beaconsfield slaughtered Bayswater by 106 points. The win keeps them in 3rd spot by percentage from Boronia in 4th. The problem is Beacy have Park Orchards and Boronia have Mooroolbark next week so it really isn't looking good for them retaining 3rd spot and the double chance. For Baysy it will be interesting to see what happens in the off season.
  • North Ringwood were the big winners of the round defeating Montrose by 26 points. The win sets up an exciting final round with both teams fighting for 5th spot just separated by percentage. Here is where it gets tricky for Montrose, they have to defeat South Belgrave because North Ringwood will do a job on Bayswater. Even if Montrose were to pull off a win against the ladder leader, there is a fair chance North Ringwood will overtake them on percentage anyway as Bayswater look like they have put the cue in the rack.
  • Boronia smashed Norwood and now will likely finish 3rd as long as they take care of Mooroolbark next week as i don't think Beaconsfield will beat Park Orchards. It will be a great result for the club coming up from Div 2. Even if they were to finish 4th its still a good result for the club. The big question is will Josh Begley be back for final? Norwood finish their season as they have the bye but with the rumours swirling who knows if they will be relegated or not.
  • South Belgrave had a standard 7 goal win against Mooroolbark. They will finish on top and are the shortest premiership favourites out of all the 5 divisions i think. Luke Dunstan in the best players caught my eye as has the form of Kai Windsor (brother of Caleb) who looks to have left Casey and is full time at South now. He hasn't played at Casey since early May but have been in Souths best players 6 out of the last 7 weeks.

  • Heathmont smashed Lilydale by 103 points, and because other results went their way, they will play finals. They will finish 5th no matter what happens next week. I gotta say its been a ride with them, a few weeks ago i thought they had blown it after doing a heap of work after their poor start to the season. They were 1-5 and to come back from that and make finals deserves credit. They will play Mulgrave in the elimination final and i think will fancy their chances. For Lilydale it seems they have been told from headquarters that they aren't getting relegated according to multiple people Saturday.
  • Ringwood had a 1 goal win against Croydon which ended any chance Croydon had of playing finals. Both teams are now playing for the love of the game. Croydon will take on Wantirna South while Ringwood have a chance against Lilydale.
  • Mulgrave and Wantirna South fought out a thrilling draw. It probably felt more like loss for Mulgrave as they led by 17 points at the 15 min mark of the final quarter and gave up the last 7 scoring shots 2.5 to Wantirna South. But what will be a positive for Mulgrave was their ability to match it with a genuine contender just before finals. The result had no bearing on ladder positions and Mulgrave will finish 4th regardless of what happens next week. I think the missing part for Mulgrave is Fletcher Roberts who was so damaging early kicking 27 goals in the first 8 games but has only played 2 games since. Hopefully he returns for finals. For Wantirna South they can take positives from the game also, they kept coming and probably should have won in the end.
  • Templestowe easily accounted for East Burwood, the game was over at half time when the score was 47-15. They will finish on top and are well clear on Wantirna South in 2nd. They are looking strong all over and with former Northern Bullant YuYu Ashwin playing great football, they are going to be hard to beat. Only one more week for East Burwood.
  • Surrey Park were 26 point winners over Waverley Blues. The loss for Waverley finally ends their finals chances. It feels like they have been mathematically hanging on for a month with no real prospect of making it. For Surrey its another finals campaign, they will finish 2nd or 3rd and have the double chance. Its an amazing effort from the club who was 2 years ago getting ready for a Div 4 finals campaign. Great to see Kane Henden slip back into the team last week (i missed it), he is a prem div best and fairest winner at Doncaster and will be an important part of the Surrey midfield come finals. But i have noticed midfielder Jack Mahon has missed the last 2 games, fingers crossed it isn't serious.

  • Coldstream avoided relegation by defeating Silvan by 15 points in a hard fought low scoring contest. Coldstream were undermanned but gave everything to get the job done and stay in Div 3. Darcy Carrigan starred kicking 3 of Coldstreams 7 goals. For Silvan they did seem a bit flat after losing to FTG last week and ending their finals hopes. They went the whole year without winning an away game, its extraordinary considering they defeated both Donvale and Scoresby.
  • Fairpark had the heartbreaking situation of defeating FTG but still getting relegated. I think most people expected them to win their game, it was always going to be more about what happened at Coldstream V Silvan. Its a shame for their football club but they left their run too late this year. It will be interesting to see what happens to some of their better players, Kyle Hird always has attraction being a very good ruckman, but they also have two fantastic midfielders in Mitch Nied and Mason Byrne. With the late Bayswater inclusions also, i wonder who will stick around for Div 4.
  • The Basin had strong 7 goal win against Oakleigh. It was actually good to see The Basin kick a decent score. For Oakleigh it was Blake Pearsons last game as coach but he was outshone by young key forward Connor Cochrane who kicked 4 goals. He has had a great year and finishes with 37 goals for the season. The Basin ended up finishing 4th but i think they will get torn apart by UFTG in the elimination final next weekend.
  • What a couple of games to finish with Scoresby defeating UFTG by 3 points and Donvale defeating Knox by 7 points. They were the top 4 teams going into round and 18 and regardless of ladder positioning now, they are still the top 4 teams. I always had Donvale and Scoresby well ahead of the other 2 but the Ringwood factor might bring UFTG especially right into this finals series. I still think the grand final will be Donvale V Scoresby but i have a feeling these finals are going to be closer than i initially thought.

Finally Div 4, the division that keeps on giving. i think what i have said here is correct but its also very confusing with match ratio with different amounts of games.
  • Chirnside Park did what most expected and defeated Kilsyth by 21 points. They are on top and will stay there, they have a bye for the last game. For Kilsyth its made things simple, if they win they make it, if they lose they don't. If they draw they also don't.
  • Warrandyte had a great win against Whitehorse and now sit 3rd but if they lose to CNMLOC they will miss finals as there has to be 2 winners below them that will overtake them. If Warrandyte draw they will also make it. Whitehorse has Forest Hill next week and will win and finish 2nd.
  • Croydon North smashed Forest Hill. They have Warrandyte next week and if the win they play finals, they overtake Warrandyte on match ratio. If they draw they would miss also.

If we can get access to some of the business parking areas around Lakeside Drive (to the right of the athletics field), look out for the Premier Div GF, once all this has been completed.
Also have the proposed redevelopment of the basketball stadium to deal with.

Could be some tough years for EB to deal with if that kicks off sooner rather than later, hot on the heels of the resurfacing and new club rooms

You nailed it with who controls Central Reserve. They will move portables in once commonsense prevails about getting the old club rooms up to scratch. It is what it is, and as I stated previously, we aren't the first and won't be the last.

Portables seems to be the best way to go,Boronia have done that this season on their junior ground but turned the current rooms into their social rooms.Begs the question with East Burwood, could the old change rooms on the north oval be a spot for social rooms?

Personally I think once all this development is completed at EB could be a potential Premier league grand final venue unless Bayswater does not update their rooms.

Rooms don’t matter for GFs. The only things that matter is the ability to completely fence the venue to protect gate revenue, and the ability to pull off the event in terms of a workforce to provide food and drinks to a crowd that could be 10k or more.

Anything else they don’t really care about or can be overcome. Parking isn’t even really an issue, the parking at Bayswater is shithouse. I’ve been to GFs there where the only parking is sidestreets that are a 20 min walk away.

EB have previously hosted other division GFs and I’m sure could host the Premier GF. I recall seeing a GF there that South Croydon won, the crowd was very big.

Yes you are right Bunk....Probably when you were on the Committee there :)

Fairpark a chance to stay up if upwey get knocked back by efl clubs or afl vic?
Or is that already been cleared thru?

Wouldn’t surprise me if 1/2 of Bayswater ends up at fairpark
