I would love a stat on the last time a first year ruck debuted/18 year old. I’m guessing it’s Grundy. Regardless , no one will care about TDK when Dodo is all aus.

Was funny to hear Todd Goldstine on the vfl broadcast, talking about him , now they’ll be rucking against each other.
Tim English played very early by memory. Maybe not first year. Even Gawn took a few years to really get going.

Just a thought, but;

Peter Wright: 2.03
Alex Dodson: 2.03
Max Heath: 2.07

Whats the max amount of players above 2m tall in a single match?
9 - take your pick from
Col (4) v Ess (5) R7 2024
Col (4) v Bris (5) R3 2024
Col (5) v Bris (4) R5 2022

7 is our record, always against Bris in '22 '23 and '24 when they have rolled out some combination (or all) of Daniher/Andrews/Hipwood/McInerney/Fort vs Marshall/King/Campbell

"In his first game 17-year-old Ditterich did as he pleased at the Junction Oval finishing best on ground in an upset win over a team that had contested the previous nine finals series."

Really looking forward to Dodson debut. Saw him preseason and said this kid looks the business (can’t be bothered looking back 7 months- haha!)

Suggest a big upgrade on Moose - terrific kid, tries his heart out and way too hard on himself - but not AFL standard - no shame in that - few big guys make it.

I remember at the time we drafted him in the 2021 mid season draft that his fellow Sandringham Dragons ruck teammate Jacob Edwards went pick 1 to North Melbourne.

Edwards was really talked up prior to the draft and it looked like the Roos had managed to score another gun with their seemingly endless supply of low picks in every draft.

Fast forward to the end of 2023 and Edwards is delisted after having failed to play a senior game.

Regardless of what happens to Moose after this season he can hold his head high,

Having said that; Dodson’s the future.

When you think about players who really made the wrong choice switching clubs chasing easy glory, Dylan Shields comes to mind. Probably ahead of Taranto and Hopper.

Be great if he turns out as good as Jackson or TDK or Darcy or Grundy or Longer.
