For Eagles its a bit dumb to shed experience then complain we dont have enough experience. Oscar is understandable but this just isnt.

Errr NOT giving Liam Ryan a 4 year deal makes perfect sense?

On what planet does he look like a guy with 4 years in him?

If that means he wants to leave then you have to let him go and try to extract some value.

Oh id never offer that but would talk him down to something more reasonable and get a deal done still. I dont think we need to just get rid of him just because. He has a contract at the end of the day

StKilda did put in a massive deal to Harley Reid and alot of the media stuff Reid does looks like he is close to Liam Ryan
with recent reports saying Reid could stay at the eagles and a last minute curve ball
Could this be a angles that StKilda are going to get both ?

He does, but I wouldn't begrudge him taking a longer deal if he had one on offer.

Try and get Jack Steele out of the Saints - pick up his deal that he's on now and give him 3 more years + coaching.

Might turn his head.

Use Ryan as a base for that and see what happens.

Can't see the Saints letting their captain go.

I don't begrudge him leaving for a better off either, but not at our expense.

We've bent over for far too long.

Captain might consider it though because he probably won't be captain next year anyway.

...or he might put up his hand for a 'contender'.

Lots to shuffle at St Kilda this year, Ross and co. are rolling the dice that they can lift a lower to mediocre team up to the finals before everyone gets sacked for treading water for a few years in Ross's 2nd reign. Might mean that Jack Steele is not front and centre in that set up anymore.

Ross the Boss was on TV the other night saying that good clubs don't let their contracted players go.

St Kilda aren't a good club so it's nor really relevant but good clubs keep and attract the players they want and let go the players they don't need. Contract status doesn't mean what it used to. Melbourne stubbornly holding onto players last year and hoping that if they close their eyes it will be 2021 again has dug them into a hole.

Jack Steele would be a great get for the eagles and the exact type they need and great leader to support Baker & Graham going foward

Am I the only one not seeing the value here? Hasn't been great for a while now.

Very few forwards look great in weak sides.
Makes the likes of Allen and Waterman look like gods with their 50+ goal years but small forwards who generally arent the main target are always going to struggle without any supply, or mature tall forwards(this year) to crumb off.

Hes been quite good considering the circumstances

A future second would probably be around later thirties early forties after concessions etc.

I'd rather we kept him for that TBH.

I think the number of concession picks gets exaggerated by the media. Yes the draft is compromised but the Saints future second should be in the early 30s. There aren't an equal number of academy picks and regular picks (this year they just happen to be quite high picks). Saints second rounder last year was pick 32

We just signed Cripps for another year, more than likely because we knew Ryan was gone.
Otherwise we probably let Cripps retire

Ryan is worth more than a 30s pick s year in the future.
Hes worth more than a 30s pick this year
