I’d be pretty happy with extra the list spots and ability to pre list nga (up to 6 over next two years)

Anything else is a bonus for mine

Getting this years and next years nga in without having to worry about list space is a big win imo.

I mean, I was only expecting we'd ask for extra spots for academy kids. Anything more than that's just a bonus.

The delay is probably the AFL trying to assess whether any of the academy kids we want to pre-list are going to be any good or not before they let us do it.
If any of them project to be decent they'll make us draft them
One thought I had on this.

Williams and Evan’s are expected to be drafted and therefore would have gotten a two year contract. I wonder if we do get the opportunity to prelist nga players, how they would manage that given cat b rookies get a standard 1 year contract. Seems to me that the PFA wouldn’t be happy with a scenario where these guys miss out on some extra security.

Perhaps we get the opportunity to offer these guys a 2 year contract regardless, not sure.

I wrote about this in another thread.

Players have to agree to be pre listed so they don't have to take up whatever we offer. I'm not sure what the rules are for contract offers. I don't see why we can't offer any draftee (or pre listed player) a 3 year deal (or a 10 year $20 million deal for that matter) but maybe there are rules preventing that.

This is a good point. They’d also get paid more if drafted.

The base payment for a player drafted this year between picks 21-50 is $120k and that drops to $115k if taken from pick 51 onwards

The base payment for a rookie list player (Cat A or B) is $100k

So Evans and Williams would be $15-20k worse off as well as only being contracted for 1 year. It’s quite a big difference

Surely it's a BASE payment and we are allowed to pay them more at our discretion. If not then there has to be a handshake on the second year. If they're any good the next contract would even it up.

Can you extend someone on the rookie list and keep them there? I'd think if you gave them an extension it'd only be possible on the main list?

They can stay on the rookie list for up to 3 years

For example, Jacob Newton has just had his contract extended for 2026 but will remain on the rookie list

So Andrew Dillon said on monday they will tell us what we get
But he has already spoken to Pyke and let him know what we get

Is that the sum of it from afl 360 ?
