Who was it who said recently that Port fans should look back on the Hinkley years with a degree of fondness? I'm still struggling with that concept - what is there in those 13 years that's so memorable?

There are exactly 4 good things in Hinkley's career. In order of how fond I am of them:

1. Him leaving
2. That time we wore the bars in the rooms and Hamish played the drums
3. 2014
4. 2013

Oh but what about 13 wins in a row - that never happens these days. Yeah I know we lost the finals in straight sets without a whimper, but that doesn't matter......

Brought out a couple of the ol' chestnuts...
"It's a whole coaching group."
"I gave it everything I have."
He gave it everything thing he had up until he decided being an AFL head coach wasn't really important in 2016.

Everything he had clearly wasn't good enough. It's the old "he's doing his best" defence.

Why is the AFL continuing to celebrate this loser?

He never understood Port Adelaide accountability and how it drove the club to success. It is a driver not a hindrance when the right people are in charge that can handle it.
Imagine looking at getting to experience the competition's fiercest rivalry twice a year for 13 years as a terrible scary burden that you'd rather do without.

It just makes so much sense now why we always took the gas in the big moments and hence never tasted the ultimate success. The guy's a chickenshit.

On the flipside, I'm just so incredibly bullish that Josh Carr and Andy Collins, potentially with Dew and Bartel in the saddle, can really get the mindset of this club back where it belongs.

I'd totally forgotten that happened until you just mentioned it. I think that says exactly how important that was.

Don't you listen to Koch - it made Hinkley our greatest ever coach.

One of Port Adelaide's most successful coaches? By what ****en metric? Even if you're only looking at the 4 AFL coaches, he's really only in the conversation with Matt Primus, who inherited a cooked list and a SANFL standard footy department.

Whole thing reeks like an ex PM trying to set the narrative on his legacy, and stitch it into the public consciousness. Kenny was a success, Port were lucky to have him. The fans are ungrateful campaigners.

Just one final chomp on the hand that gave a country bumpkin and his family generational wealth and the platform to still be sitting on prime time TV here and now. Where's the ****en expressions of gratitude to us you filthy chode?
