Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

How disrespectful by Charlie and his management to say they want to leave for clubs that are really not desperate enough to trade for him. And make it public as we are perceived as weak.

I hope Graham wright comes out again and publicly say he is staying unless we get star players and picks back. In a really angry and forceful way.

Charlie pull your head in. Whether you stay or not now, i am off you.

Will cheer your exploits if you stay but it will be all business.
Spot on. A big reality check coming for Charlie. Clearly these clubs don't rate him highly enough to give up a decent player.

The longer this charade goes on, the more his brand is damaged. Very poor management.

He will need to have a big 2026 to win back the Blue-Bagger faithfull

Carlton wanted to put him on the inactive list where he could still be paid by us.

We did everything we could to have him stay with us. He rejected that. He had a signed contract and wanted out.

Yes, COVID was an extraordinary circumstance, but provision were made to accommodate his intransigence.

Despite all of this, he chose to retire but only till he could get on the Bulldogs list.

Not what happened!
Jones was quite happy to wipe us and go back to the Dogs after we rescued his career.

Yes I know he stopped playing because of the Covid jab.

Can see McMahon kicking a few opportunistic goals. Can't ever see him exerting much influence on a game. Wish him well but can't see him on a list in a couple of years. Phillips is similar, plenty of teams have had plenty of opportunities to pick him up but haven't. Doesn't look strong enough to play on the big boys or have enough aerobic capacity to play against the likes if Naughton or Cameron. I'd hope that there are better stop gap KPD's available till O'Farrell and Dean are good to go.

In theory what are the actual legitimate best offers the Cats could make?

We are wanting to trade Charlie at a value based on his Coleman form, but in reality we are dealing with his 2025 form, which is miles below. It's also more likely the 2025 form is what we'll get for the next 4 years if we hold him, so what is that worth?

You don't sell him at that price...

He is contracted and a required player. At his best, he is the best kpf in the league, or very close to.

Geelong will have to pony up, they cannot continue to be strengthened by other clubs at a bargain...

They got Cameron, Smith among others for cheaper than they should have, pick 7 + Bowes for a 3rd round pick... this shit has got to end. Also, the last thing Carlton should be doing, is satisfying Charlie's "demands"...

It's Holmes + Neale + F1 or **** off.

I want some in the know feedback on Charlie

What is the go? Why is he so desperate to move on?

Would love some more intel from the likes of Wickzi, Soapy V, Barrass etc

Does he see the window for success as closed?

Is it really just a lifestyle change he wants?? His brother bled blue for us and we all thought Charlie was the same...

It really seems to show a remarkable lack of resilience as to why he's giving up, Jack Silvagni exactly the same except he was a free agent. Just wimps who chose to give up as it was all too hard...

Instead they could have been part of something special the club is trying to build on and be part of instilling new culture and set of standards at the club, the same ones Cripps, Weiters and Walsh are excited to help instil in the team...

could be all of the above, and could be a simple matter of his contract being front loaded and now wants more coin

Could safely assume JSOS was tempted by the dark side and the after-dinner mints organised with Dad & his Uncle Rossco for an extra $1M+ for his last contract..

Interested in the “desperately” wants out narrative with Charlie too.
Seems poor form & a complete lack of endeavour from a senior player

This is what is really annoying me about Charlie there's reports that he will take a pay cut and is desperate to get to Geelong

I mean, what the hell is going on?

for someone who has always been more of a vibes player, can run all day put has a very active social life at night this might also be a part of the problem.

His talent and personality has made him face of our marketing and what i've heard he's been allowed to pick and choose in ways that aren't an option for less talented players.

Geelong under Mackie have been pretty unfriendly with other clubs.

But Charlie is contracted, so if they want to make the moves, they had better start figuring out what they can get us

There's too much of a risk associated with the fitness of a player, who has averaged 21.75 games per season the past 4 years?

It sounds strange when we look at that number but it's a reality!

When you're going to give up top end talent and high-end picks, you want to be getting a thoroughbred that's going to be running for the next 5 years.

He is not a 25-year-old buddy or a 25-year-old Jez (who cost 3 first rounders and was out of contract at GWS!)

There are plenty of hypothetical offers they could make, they have some excellent young players on their list who we'd love to take. Problem is they won't want to let them go, and/or the players themselves may have no interest in moving (or moving to Carlton).

Same goes for any club - literally any club would have players and/or picks in some combination that would satisfy us. It's about how willing those parties are to pay the price or make the move.
