Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

I think people need to seriously temper their expectations on what we'll get back for Charlie. And the talk of letting him rot in the twos is absolute idiocy and I'm glad some of you don't run the club.

We only need to part company if a satisfactory deal is put forward otherwise he will stay.
If we are in the business of improving our list it is totally unnecessary to trade a contracted player, accepting underwhelming offers is NOT improving our list.

I think the writing is on the wall with Voss anyway and he knows it.

We didn't sack him because we'd have to pay him out and there really wasn't anyone available worth chasing.

Plus the optics of sacking another coach is something they didn't want.

Voss needs to improve the team otherwise it is likely to be his last. Hard to imagine a contract renewal if Carlton are still languishing in the bottom 8. Also hard to imagine being good enough for a finals birth.

Curnow is a duel Coleman medallist in his prime. TDK, Silvagni, Kennedy are good players in their prime. So is Jack Martin who needs to be physically managed, but will play in a grand final in 2 days time. Hollands is good and young. Owies and Cincotta 'would have kept yhem'.

Carroll and Durdin = meh, but mature and solid and you need some solid reserves.

Basically, if you are losing Marchbank and Cunningham, and Docherty to retirement to injury you desperately need to hang onto your other 25-28 year old players and ideally add some replacements or risk tipping the team from contention back into a rebuild.

Which is exactly what we have done. It is mismanagement, pure and simple.

Mismanagement of S/C at the top which impacts the mid tier but that’s why we didn’t hold on to the likes of MK & Owies and Setterfield, Dow, Fisher before them.
Would like to think that we’ll have a bounty to give us room to attack next season so as not to dilute FA compo.

TDK = $ too high (FA)
JSOS = $ too high (FA)
MK = $ cost turned into HOF
Owies = $ cost turned into Jagga
EH = self-inflicted
Martin = didn’t work for injuries
Cincotta = hip injury / 30yo
Charlie = contracted

We need list spots (youth was wanted) so you lose some depth, which is required to be built from underneath and now looking at trades for suitable players from other clubs.

Maybe. Or maybe they and club are on exactly the same page and neither side care what’s being written by media.

Charlie and his management will do everything possible, including use the media for leverage(for what it’s worth), to get out of Carlton by the end of this trade period.

I don’t believe that approach would be the preferred one if the club had a say.

Cal Twomey reporting on Gettable we are interested in Ollie Florent. Said its not contingent on Curnow moving. Also, mentioned they have looked at Jiath but it's not certain to happen compared to some of our other targets.

Think Florent would be a shrewd acquisition if it happens. Provides run and kicking ability off the HB line but could probably also push onto a wing if needed.

Florent is a more polished version of Hollands

Can't see the punters around here accepting 12th on the ladder in 2026 without the urge to tar & feather ol' mate Vossy.

Excuses will be plentiful for Motlop, Durdin, Khamis and CJ for ordinary form if Austin gets it wrong again and recruits sizzle (athleticism) with no substance ... but not much sympathy for Voss who isn't a Cat, so no 7 lives remaining for him, having escaped the plank on the Black Pearl thanks to GW.

It's hard to imagine Carlton rising up the ladder ... so a tough Gig for Vossy next season.

As they say ... Nothing worth having comes easily.

Well hopefully Wright, the new Port Adelaide dude and Austin are making all the important future decisions.

Ok, we barely and I mean BARELY scraped in last year...

This year, well off the mark...

It's clear where the trajectory is heading. I know it's not the news everyone wants to hear, but it's just reality.

Our midfield is not up to it in it's current setup. Adding Chesser and Jagga is nice, but the main quartet will be Cripps/Hewett/Cerra/Walsh who have proven to be one dimensional, one paced and ultimately cannot deliver i50 among a HOST of other problems.

Then there's losing TDK... which makes Pitto our main ruck...

We still rely too much on an older brigade that is only going to be a year older:

Saad, Newman, Haynes, Acres, Gov, Williams, Hewett, Cripps,

Harry can't stay on the park for a full season... never has

Our small forward stocks are inept.

And we're clearly going through a bit of a list turn over this offseason with all the names we've been linked to...

You'd have to be the ultimate optimist to believe we'll make the 8 next year.

It will depend...

If they scrape in then put up another disgraceful performance like 2024... I won't be happy at all.

If they make the 8 and at least put up a good fight, maybe even win one... then I'll be happy if the performance is mostly off the back of our younger players... if it's off the back of the 30+ year olds having a purple patch... then yeah we'll be back to relying on them in 2027...

I'm not one of those who will just be happy to make the finals... I want the club to actually be going somewhere, I want signs that we're on track to win a flag... that is what matters to me..

A lot of talk about Ollie Florent on here. Probably some context needed.

Florent is 27 and was not in Swans best 22 for much of the year. I don't mind him as a player but he has another four years on his contract.

Four years.

What do you think we'd get for Jordan Boyd? He's contracted for another year. I like him but it's clear Voss doesn't. We'd give him away.

Swans are DESPERATE to move Florent's contract. He would be delisted if he was out of contract. He has no value in a trade. Ok footballer but four years is a long time if he spuds it up.

Personally I think that everything that could have gone wrong last year, did.

Losing TDK will hurt but JSOS barely played. Ultimately, the talent on the list was not the reason we cooked last year, it was the game plan and apparent cultural malaise. Assuming a competent coaching staff, and engaged playing group, there is more than enough talent left to make the 8. Obviously it’s possible that nothing changes but certainly not writing it off.

Ollie isn't the greatest decision maker or deliverer off HB, I'd actually prefer him as a high half forward. Can hold an oppo HB accountable, has the tank to get up and back and can kick a long ball deep into the F50.
