We'll pussyfoot around Trac because we'll think we're a shot for Curnow and end up with neither. I can see it already

You can get both with 3 first rounders + Flanders + Rosas compo + future picks.

Supposedly Essendon offering more than St Kildas 900k for Flanders, if I was the Sun’s I would be looking to flip pick 5 right back round from Essendon to Dees.

Hypothetically would the Dees accept less trade value if the Crows took on all of his contract?
Dees offered Trac big money on a long Contract because he’s a star that they want to stay and play for them.

Why would they take less in a deal because his new club also wants to pay him exactly what they are prepared to pay him?

These Crows supporters are really struggling with this one lol

They have something like 5 academy kids in the draft with something like 3 projected as 1st rounders. They are going to need a stack of draft points to cover off on these players so hard to see them burning multiple 1sts on either player. It would have to be player swaps primarily

If I was Melbourne, Essendon or Carlton I would want player swaps over picks. You cant rebuild via the draft anymore. If you look at the teams that played Preliminary Final 30-40 per cent of the players that were on the field were traded from other clubs and not drafted into the system.

Academies and Free Agency have completely transformed how lists are developed. The value in 6 to 18 that gets pushed out to 10 to 22 just isn’t there anymore.

With what Gold Coast are bringing in, i wish my club was going all in to try and shake one or 2 of their top.youngsters out that can't quite crack the side.. lombard would be right up there. Its worth paying the piper if they are young and have a very high ceiling as yiu will get years out of them.if you can shake them loose

Which we are comfortable paying…
Yeah, because you got him cheap for the other years of his contract and now back paying what he is own. The new club isn't signing him cheap for those years, they are signing him for $1.7M. Would you have signed him for $1.7M.....no.

As I said, it’s an Adelaide problem if they want him. We are fine paying him the contract as is, that’s why we locked him into it. Worth every cent for the next 4 years.

You can either afford his salary, or you can’t. It’s not our problem.

You don’t think there’ll be any problems with him walking back into the club after actively wanting to leave two offseasons in a row?

Not really, he is a professional, not a 5 year old. Played every game in 2025 and came 2nd in our BnF after last offseason. I would expect the same in 2026.

Absolutely. If you look at the top 9 (and take out Collingwood who are cooked and Geelong who have no assets to trade) and then look at Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Both are playing with Monopoly money — the academies have already cooked the draft and could ruin the league.

It's heavily backend though, your initial contract wasn't $1.7M.
Which Melbourne are prepared to pay. Doesn’t matter if it’s front or back ended, Melbourne offered that deal to keep Petracca at the club because he is a star.

If another wants to pay that same amount for Petracca the star, why would Melbourne take less in a trade?

If Adelaide can’t afford him under their salary cap, they may need to pay Melbourne extra on top of the Petracca value to use Melbourne’s cap space.

Sounds like they will struggle to get it done without a best 22 player. Trac would have nominated by now if he had any level of confidence it could get done.

Let’s see where he ends up tomorrow.

I reckon the Dee's are handling this really well. İf Trac wants out, fine, but you come to us with your new destination club and let's nut it out! If it doesn't suit us, we keep you. Simple as that. At 1.4m × 4 years, the new club has to pony every single cent or, if we have to help out with some of the baggage, then we'll be asking for overs. There's nothing wrong with that stance. Nothing.

Gotta love the Adelaide fan who mentioned Zac Taylor lol. Loving trade period already. The old adage that accumulating trash = treasure lol.

Trac won't get to Adelaide without it being substantial and crows have no good picks and no good players to give us. It'll be Gold Coast if anyone.
