That’s why I’m not 100 sold on Petrecca going to Gold Coast. Surely it’s a bit like Merrett at Hawthorn. You can’t bring in Curnow and Petrecca at the same time. Unless Curnow is Sydney bound?

Dees offered Trac big money on a long Contract because he’s a star that they want to stay and play for them.

If I was Melbourne, Essendon or Carlton I would want player swaps over picks. You cant rebuild via the draft anymore. If you look at the teams that played Preliminary Final 30-40 per cent of the players that were on the field were traded from other clubs and not drafted into the system.

Academies and Free Agency have completely transformed how lists are developed. The value in 6 to 18 that gets pushed out to 10 to 22 just isn’t there anymore.

As I said, it’s an Adelaide problem if they want him. We are fine paying him the contract as is, that’s why we locked him into it. Worth every cent for the next 4 years.

You can either afford his salary, or you can’t. It’s not our problem.

Not really, he is a professional, not a 5 year old. Played every game in 2025 and came 2nd in our BnF after last offseason. I would expect the same in 2026.

Trac is the one looking to move. We’ll move him with the right deal. If the deals offered don’t meet the expectations then he’ll play for us and as mentioned he’s the ultimate professional.

Absolutely. If you look at the top 9 (and take out Collingwood who are cooked and Geelong who have no assets to trade) and then look at Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Both are playing with Monopoly money — the academies have already cooked the draft and could ruin the league.
