Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Thats my thinking. Would allow us to get out of the Harry Dean "hit zone".

Walk away with Pick 3/4, Dean + Ison from the draft.

Not sure it’s worth it tbh. Who are we grabbing with Pick 3/4? Nobody stands out that feels worth spending that level of draft capital on unless somehow believe CDT is going to drop…or we can nab West Coast’s Pick 2. Hmmm. Actually…

I think it's worth it to get a freebie in before any Harry Dean bid.

To me thats clearly where its headed. That deal, and the trade up to hopefully WC pick 2 but probably more likely Tigers Pick 4. Pick 4, Dean, Jagga, Cody, Ison, O'farell, Cowan, Olli, Moir is our next push.
Is O'Keefe in the next push or do we need another KPF?

I think the value of florent is already negligible in that deal.

2 1sts plus Hayward is reasonable. Adding Florent as a salary dump is a freebie. If you swapped florent with somebody who has more value like McInerny, its probably to skewed in our favour.
Contracted player = skewing in our favour. Make it rain!

Would we be happy with Pick 11, F1, Florent + Hayward?

Would allow us to package up 10 and 11 to move up the board, and also have added fodder for Cody next year.
Looking more and more likely the landing zone for the Charlie trade now. Would take it in a heartbeat.

Package 10 and 11 for Richmond or WCE pick 2 or 3, take the best kid there (Duff or Duursma), use points to match Dean, build points later to match Ison, walk away with 2x future firsts in tact for Cody bid next year + a 2027 1st that we could trade into 2026 Round 1 if required.

Florent, Hayward, Duff/Duursma, Dean, Ison, Buku, Riedy, Chesser (+ Cody 2027) IN
Gov, SOS, TDK, Charlie OUT
Jagga, Newman, Kemp to return
Sign Ethan Phillips as SPP KPD backup in the backline

2026 Potential Starting Lineup (names in bold additions vs. 2025 squad incl. those returning from long term injury)
B: Cowan Weiters Haynes
HB: Saad Buku Newman
C: Ollie Cripps Florent
HF: Jagga Kemp Williams
F: Motlop Harry Hayward
R: Riedy Hewett Walsh
INT (from): Cerra Evans Chesser Dean Pitto Fogarty Carroll Durds Lord Young x2 Moir Cottrell HOK White Wilson Binns Campo x2 Ison Duff/Duursma

Like it.

I'd be happy to send something back as well or downgrade the swans this year first. provided doesnt stop us from getting dean/ison.

We need depth, young core is pretty decent plus dean/ison/walker.
Adding a MCInerny with Hayward and Florent plus Khamis, Chesser, Reidy, really improves our depth in positions of need

2027 add Cody and Butters as a free agent with the freeing up of cap space and by god we're up for a serious tilt at it 2027 onwards

I would expect us to have approached WCE with an offer of 10 + 11 for their F1.

If they reject, approach North and Melbourne with the idea of 10 + 11 for their F1 + a 3Rnd.

If they both reject, then try and offer that to WCE for pick 2.

If they reject then offer 10 + 11 for 6 + 24 from *.

If they reject, then 10 + 11 at the draft this year isn't really ideal especially if a Dean bid comes before we get to pick...

I'm not fully across the top prospects this year, and assuming Duursma and CDT are gone at 1 and 2 (which seems to be likely) ... we'd be likely in the market for one of Sullivan Robey, Sam Grlj, Dyson Sharp (maybe not him), Josh Lindsay, Aidan Schubert etc

in addition to Dean + Ison.

Honestly speaking, it's a deal that the logical thinking Carlton fans would take comfortably, I absolutely would for certain (ESPECIALLY if we can get into the top 3 of the draft)

The casuals on our socials are about to sook up a storm though 😂

Agree, I think the Sydney deal would also be largely contingent on us having an agreement to trade up already... otherwise, would be pointless if we lose both picks to a likely Dean bid.

Haywood serviceable at Sydney. At Carlton he would quickly become very average with the way our forward line functions and how we kick it to our forwards

Cool, let's not bother recruiting anyone then...

I get where you're coming from - but List Management can't just turn their toes up because our gameplan has been inconsistent.

They're making a lot of effort to bring in a variety of players who change the way we transition and enter 50, which is all they can do. Chesser, Hayward, Florent, Khamis - making a move for Humphrey whether successful or not. While also making sure we don't fumble the gift-wrapped Dean, Ison and Walker. On top of the last few years' recruits in Jagga, Hollands and Fantasia (low cost, worth the risk regardless of the outcome), Haynes, Carroll, Wilson, Moir, HOF, Charleson and the Campos.

Hopefully Fraser can make some changes to our forward structures and leading patterns, and the players we bring in can contribute to some newfound success. And hopefully Adams comes in with some new ideas for the midfield and can get them connecting with the defensive and forward lines more effectively too.
