Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Tom Morris on trade radio speaking about Humphrey says clubs still believe he’s gettable due to Dimma being sympathetic to his family situation and why he would want to come back home.

Hirdy brought up Charlie trade with Humphrey and Tom said Dimma really likes the idea of Charlie being at the suns. So one to watch if things don’t work out with JUH.
Yup.
Bailey clearly has something going on.
Why would he otherwise meet with clubs against his manager and clubs will?
U wouldn’t bother

Maybe. Or maybe he'll realise that if he doesn't put in a really strong year, the clubs he wants to get to aren't going to give Carlton anything close to what it will take to get us to trade him. Whether he's staying for 4 years or trying to leave again in 1, there's gonna be some greater incentive for him to pull his finger out.
I don’t think he’s that smart BB 😳

If the plan with those picks would just be moving around the draft, there's no rush - draft picks can be traded even after the trade period ends, it's just player movements that need to be finalised.
It would be a crazy move trading in Sydney’s first this year without knowing exactly what we would be doing with it

Interesting to hear JUH will need to rip his contract up and play for 400-500k next year, to play at the Suns. They have no intention of paying his 900k deal. And Bulldogs dont want to pay part of it for him to play at Suns.

So JUH needs to sacrifice half a million dollars to extend his AFL career. Good test to see how bad he wants it.
At the same token - how else could he earn 4-500k?

This is more about him protecting that than losing half his current earnings.

If the Suns do pick him up at their considerable risk it should be at a very low base with incentives.

Maybe even rookie him for 12 months.

So they should
Disgrace him getting paid that amount this year … Dogs have been royally screwed

Yeah logically, but he might not be smart enough to think of it like that.

Plus, if a trade doesn't get done and Bulldogs delist him he probably gets the majority of that 900k.

Can he think that far ahead?

They could do CC as well if Humphrey was out + Ainsworth $ (plus chipping away more coin with Fiorini, Budarick etc).
Insurance for B.King & JUH is no certainty.

This term Generational Forward to describe CC creeping in is interesting.

To me generational players are those brilliant players that stand out above the rest and deliver consistently every week and in finals and big games. Players like Ablett senior, Tony Lockett, Chris Judd.

If I’m honest I don’t see Charlie in this group. Don’t get me wrong I think he’d be a big drawcard for a team like Sydney but I don’t think he’s done enough to be called a generational player, imho.
I think given the age demographic in here there’s a “romanticized view” of key forwards. I know that my thoughts skew that way.

The memory of Fev leading hard and taking the mark out front & then the absolute pure sound of him hitting a ball from 50+ & knowing it was sailing straight through was absolute pure footy.
The confidence & pure Carlton swagger around that was superb, it was awesome Blues footy.
That ain’t Charlie, Fev was loose at times, but u would back him every time to slot it.

We have always loved a big key forward, but after decades of shit results a move away from that is probably a good idea.

If we want to change of results we have to change how we do things, I have no problem with Charlie going and strengthening the side to get the ball in deeper to more dangerous positions more often.
We’ve lamented our forward structure for years, take out the focal point & it forces the structure to change.

As long as we don’t try to play the same way we will be fine, if we do revert to the same style, it’s going to be disastrous.

Better front half pressure, good delivery deeper into the forward line & more options in that forward line should make us a better team than us being “Charlie Focused”.

At the end of the day the bloke has never figured out that if he was on a good lead and took it out in front he would be unstoppable.
He still has plenty of demons around a set shot (so does Harry) we can’t carry that any longer when the goal should be set shots from 30-45 out all day long

Shouldn’t be any other way (other than this seasons dues owed back to the Bulldogs).

The contract with the Bulldogs should be voided by the AFL otherwise, so it’s not really a sacrifice but a bonus 2nd chance offered by the GC.

Won’t be earning $300K anywhere else but in the AFL will be the reality check.
