Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Hmm i was thinking the same to be honest.
What do you think GC would take points wise for Humphrey
I don’t think they trade him.
If there’s genuine compassionate reasons to let him go, maybe the 9+10 and nothing going back.

I think our chance to get him would have been if the Suns wanted Charlie more than Petracca, then we could have worked something out.

I agree with all of this.
Pick 9,10 on its own is valued at pick 2 which is pretty steep but for obvious reasons its very much around the mark considering what you said and the sentiments, environment, contract, etc

Im not sure why the Suns are tbh. There are clubs I think would be better placed to take the risk and who need him more. Not sure its worth it for them.
I agree, it seems bizarre to me they’d be taking a risk.
Elijah must have been the only cultural problem at the club!!! bringing JUH in has way more risk than reward imo

When Geelong decides not to take on a problem child on the cheap you know there are red flags everywhere

Im absolutely unconvinced Carlton want to keep Curnow at all. Im absolutely convinced Carlton want to trade him as their first choice option
I heard last night we're hoping he leaves, his knee is not in good shape and they left him out of the side at the back end of the year because of it.

7 for Flanders is an overpay, but it's not crazy over.

Especially given that I can't immediately think of a draftee in that range who I am confident will have a career like Flanders to date

That will be Sydney’s thought process guaranteed, I really hope GW and co are not thinking that way at all because it compromises the outcome.

This isn’t Merrett or Oliver levels of angst, the level of deal GW and co were thinking 2 weeks ago has to be the absolute minimum level by Wednesday next week and nothing less

Disclaimer, i really enjoy your view points as its often a little different to the majority. They are probably more down the line but I havent always agreed with you.

So i'm curious why you think this, because I'm of the same opinion.

I just think the Chesser, Buku, Florent and Hayward types, if they come in a deal for Charlie, make us a better "team" overall. I rate them all as good solid role players that make us better than what we currently are.

Humphrey just turned 21 last month, and came 4th in the Suns’ B&F in the first year that their club made finals, by far the best year in their history.
Not many clubs would give up that kind of player (especially in contract) for pick 2.

If thats the case, he would fail a medical or at least be flagged and then is value would plummet
You can always do just enough to get through a medical. I don't think I've seen it reported anywhere that he's done one anywhere anyway. Name and accolades probably make him desirable enough for a team who sees him as the key to a premiership.

GW or Austin need to get on the blower to Dimma to bang on about how having Charlie will significantly improve their chances of a flag in the next few years and how much of a Hero he will be at Gold Coast.

Also throw in the fact that Benny King is keen to get back to Melbourne perhaps next year and Charlie is better value than JUH and they don't want to end up with no key forward if they want to be in a GF and win a Premiership.

I think if we swap Curnow for Humphrey, either directly with GC or indirectly through Sydney, the best we can expect coming with him is a 2nd round pick. He will cost alot and his value given his age isn't far off Curnows.

Id still do that, although it becomes a problem, if bidding rules change for 26, as we'd almost certainly need another F1 for Cody and no other currency to get it.

Shouldn’t be any other way (other than this seasons dues owed back to the Bulldogs).

The contract with the Bulldogs should be voided by the AFL otherwise, so it’s not really a sacrifice but a bonus 2nd chance offered by the GC.

Won’t be earning $300K anywhere else but in the AFL will be the reality check.
Pretty much wat I said in my post
Not sure why you and sweet seventeen got the angriness
You must have misread my post

If Charlie Curnow has a fresh start with more precise ball delivery, he’ll be a super Star of the competition we know he can be.

I would think it would be (if it were the Suns chasing Charlie, and then Humphrey requesting a trade to us) Charlie for Humphrey + F1, at a minimum but also probably about the most of what we could get.

Suns would be odds on to be top 4 next year with Charlie in the team (and probably without), so it’s a late F1.

We’d then be able to play around with the TDK and SOS compo picks for more points, and potentially a little extra for 26.

I'm all for making our list better overall - but until we have a solid system and game plan then our team will never be better overall.
