Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Certainly worth a look in, may have changed the Buku strategy?

Don't think we'd shaft Buku like Saint Kilda have shafted Aleer though.

They're lucky they've blown their cap now, cause players are going to be very bloody hesitant to commit to moving there for the next few years knowing that the club are prepared to leave them high and dry halfway through the trade period.

Aleer is gonna go from earning $650k a year at St Kilda, to probably needing to accept whatever amended offer GWS feel inclined to table now knowing he's probably just gotta cop it and slink back.

I don't think it does at all. Sydney's 2025 1st is much better than Geelong's. Their 2026 pick I'd say would be projected to be better than Geelong's. IMO a player like Hayward would be much more valuable than Geelong's 2027 1st which will likely be well into the 30s due to Tassie's concessions.
Sydney haven’t offered anything yet! The offer from Geelong may get them to make such an offer. Hayward can also say no to this, as he is contracted. A lot to play out…

He’s heading to Sydney. But this raises the stakes.
Then I salute you Mackie you flog headed campaigner!

A great game of cat and mouse to lure the Swans out of hiding

Salute Aye Aye Captain GIF

Wouldn't Cats have to hand over a first round pick for Rowan from the Saints?

It’s all part of the relief package the AFL are sending their way for the inconvenience of yesterday.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we came out publicly and said we want players, and not just any players but A grade talent for A grade talent, so ### off with all this we should take picks in teens and 20's bullshit.
We have an 80 goal a year key forward signed on massive unders, they can offer every pick between 10 and 20 and the answer should be #### off. Especially to those p.o.s from Geelong, the club who moaned the most about us back in the day.

I like the pressure now on the Swans.

Add a swap of their 2027 first for our 2026 second to extract more value.

They are desperate and they will pay. We are due a death ride.
Our 2026 2nd probably holds more value due to the strength of the draft and the significant Tassie concessions in 2027 which will likely push Sydney's 1st into the 30s.

How about Shannon Neale and Acres to West Coast; WC 2025 Pick 2, GFC 2025 first round, WC 2026 2nd round and Oisin Mullen to Carlton; Charlie to Geelong?
My preference is the Swans, but this is not much different to using Warner in the trade, sending someone home and getting all the benefits....friends with benefits

so bloody juicy...cant wait for the swans response.
I'm not sure they have to respond.

If they are offering this year's first, next year's first and Hayward then it's difficult to argue against that being the better deal imo.

Geelong's offer sounds good as clickbait without actually delving into the detail.

Assuming the cats don't drop, which they never do, and especially if they have cc.

Okay everyone. Hold off on reposting this one.

If the poster would please PM me with some background on this.

The silence is deafening on this one. As you were folks.

Realistically what do we think this Cats offer is gonna make Sydney do?
The Swans current offer if true of 25 1st, F1 & Hayward is a sight better than 19, a likely 15-19 pre compo and 25+ after Tassie concessions.

I don’t think this is gonna cause the Swans to jump the gun and add something bigger to it at all, they aren’t dumb they know where those Cats picks are likely to fall in each of the next two years.

Main purpose of it from the Cats would be to try and make St Kilda jump at 19 for Marshall.

They know 19, 19 and a 25+ ain’t moving the needle even a bit for CC

The inherent bias in the language used by the AFL media team would make Murdoch blush: “Cats table monster deal”, “record-breaking”, “massive offer”.

It’s some picks in the late teens/early twenties, with the 2027 pick being god-knows what with Tassie.

Should offer those picks up to Port for ZB and see if the same language is used to describe it…

Just to put the geelong offer of three first round picks in perspective, that's basically the same as what they got for Tim Kelly
