2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

This is me 'being adamant he's going to be a big threat up forward' is it?

Seems a bit like this

Angry Phone GIF
I don't understand the orange thing, but it seems weird to suggest it's a good idea to play him 50% if you don't think he will be a big threat up forward?

Flanders and Ryan were fair deals, if you want to get things done early to pursue potential other opportunities, you just offer what we think they are worth, no point low balling and take a week just to arrive at the same point, we would have known what Gold coast and Eagles wanted to do the deal, so just pulled the trigger. Think Aleer was a surplus after JSOS chose us, and we probably have other targets to use the draft capital as well.
I just would have thought we could of gotten something back with Flanders the suns have plenty of midrange picks or even a future pick

Twomey -

ROWAN MARSHALL

Marshall is still resolute that he wants to be traded to Geelong, despite St Kilda putting it on the record throughout the window that he's not for sale. The Cats prioritised a move for the ruck, putting their No.19 pick on the table from day one, but the Saints refused to budge and the Grand Finalists subsequently turned their attentions to their mammoth Charlie Curnow offer later in the week. While there's been defiance on St Kilda's end, could talks recommence before Wednesday as Geelong continues its chase?

LEEK ALEER

Aleer had his world turned upside down when St Kilda pulled out of what had previously been amicable negotiations with Greater Western Sydney around a deal last Thursday. Now, he's searching for another club. North Melbourne is investigating the possibility of a trade, while the Giants have a three-year deal on the table for Aleer to stay on heavily revised terms. If the Kangas pursue Aleer, it's likely the Giants will continue holding out for a future second-round selection for the athletic defender.

JACK STEELE

St Kilda told Steele to look at his options with two years to run on his contract. But the midfielder, who has stepped down as Saints skipper, has not wanted to actively search for a new home and has been set on only considering a move if a rival came for him hard. Essendon has explored interest in him as the Bombers look at adding experience to their group, but nothing concrete has emerged yet for Steele. Adelaide and West Coast aren't chasing him and Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney have looked elsewhere for midfielders.

I will die laughing if Norf give a second round pick for him.

I understand the nature of negotiation but what the hell are North Melbourne smoking asking for 2 firsts for Simpkin?

Even if north pay half his $1m wage, I’m not convinced they’d get 1 first rounder.
Trying to make up for the fact that they traded out Pick 3 for Matt Whitlock

I hope Aleer goes somewhere as a DFA and Jason McCartney's faux outrage looks even more ridiculous when they can't get any trade done.

Anyone who is mentioning Crossley clearly lives off the grid with no television because if you do have television and didn't notice the condition the bloke was in during the vfl GF you clearly need a trip to OPSM
How could anyone possibly think that all of a sudden the walking wine barrel is going to be serious and get fit
Crossley would curl up in a foetal position after our 3km time trial..

All he has to do is be as good as keeler as a fwd (and keep him in the vfl) and it's a win for us.

You're the only one saying he needs to be a big threat up forward.
All he has to be is decent (as i said in my first post)
