2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

sounds like Jake from Saints TV source was onto something
Saints get Cmac and feelings first
Geelong get Ro
Hawks get Merret
Essendon get Hawks two firsts
Hahahaha it’s harder than it looks

Cam Mackenzie is represented by TGI sport. So would probably be the player that gets this deal moving.

Up to us I guess if we want him.
Interesting.

Friday, it was mentioned there was a 50% chance of a player moving...I thought it was Rowbottom so didn't push. Maybe it is McKenzie

We’re not going to jump.
By all accounts we are happy to keep him.
Great position to be in.
This is funny AF... I've got Geelong supporting mates messaging accusing StK of holding Ro against his will.

The entitled inbreds are in panic mode.

Geelong and Hawthorn.

Both have crappy draft picks.

Both want other clubs elite/great/very good players but refuse to give up any players of their own.

What a pack of …..

I was just reading Saintsational and there is a poster over there Dieterixh who is inferring he has heard that Steele may be off to Essendon some how involved in the Merrett trade. Also we have offerred Cam McKenzie a decent 4 year deal, plus Im guessing an early pick to Hawthorn to assist in getting Merrett.

He also suggested Hunter Clark may get to North Melbourne.

"If it does proceed, SaintWiki, I'm afraid it will involve Captain Jack somehow. I doubt they want to trade out too many future picks, but that is still an option.

As mentioned elsewhere, Jack to Essington as part of the Merrett deal. Our pick for Jack, 23 before the gazillion Academy and f/s picks. We trade that to the Hoks and whatever steak knives will get McKenzie to us.

A little birdie told me Hunter Clark might be traded to Norf, after all. RTB being a fan and having plans for Hunter off half back may be the fly in the ointment."

That's the quote. Steele part doesn't necessarily read as he knows something, but he is clear on Clark.

You want your ruckmen to be big, strong and aggressive..Soldo's no world beater but has those traits.
Question is, how’s his body.
If he failed the fitness test last year, it’s unlikely he had a huge improvement now when he's a year older.

Their midfield was Butters/Rozee/Wines/Boak/Drew

Might have finished top 4 with me in the ruck
What a midfield - that’s what we talk about when we talk midfields.

If only…
But, …

Speaking of rucks, I still think they’ll look for a Shaun McKernan, Tom Campbell seasoned old campaigner type as a back up.

Meantime, we still talk as if Mitchito Owens hasn’t been used as a magic-mini ruck these past three years. He’s the guy Ross asks to relieve Holla! 190cm of gristle and grunt.

Will be interesting what happens to Mitchito, Coops and Hammer going forward. Pun intended.

If Marshall doesn’t go this year, he’ll probably go next, so…

I don't understand what's the difference between a FRDP this year and a FF next year? Geelong will likely still be top 6 at least. It's not going to be that much different a pick. Why are the Saints demanding a FF and why are Geelong not giving it up?
A FF is more valuable in a less compromised draft than this year.
Appears we are not after anyone particularly in this draft which will blow ut quite substantially.

Is the consensus that if we turn Ro into Cmac, we are happy? My personal feeling is yes.
I'd be reserving my judgement to be honest. To be honest, its sort of like our selection of Travaglia. There's question marks and not a sure thing yet but I won't be concerned for now with the selection.

Not exactly wrong. It is against his will as he wants to leave.

I just don’t think Ross gives a feck

Hunter Clark to norf seems so random aha
