Agreed. Vlastuin level player you grab when available. As was Rance, and also (regardless of how we feel about him) should be Tom Stewart. Just don't know if that is what level X Taylor is or not?

I'm also of the opinion that KPD can come from KPF who don't quite make the level: eg Darcy Moore, Astbury, Liam Jones, and quite possibly one of Fawcett, Simms, Armstrong, Faull. Still happy with early picks on Gibcus & Trainor.
(Sort of irrelevant to what we were discussing, but spent the afternoon in the pool drinking beer, so forgive me if I go into Mr Magic mode)
To much to drink and you’ve drounded, declared brain dead, now you can go into magic mode.

Still 17 days until the draft and we’re being linked to Will Setterfield

PommyinOz just said we have been linked to Will Settlefield this morning

Highlights pls Gecko lizard man
Who was the last DFA we selected, Mav Weller?
The days of filling the list with list cloggers are long gone.

If Richmond really are only keen on 1 player with our top 2 picks and are happy to move back, what do you think of a 3 way trade
Out
Rixhmond 4
Melbourne 7 GC f1
Crows 16 crows f1

In
Richmond 16 gc f1 crows f1
Melbourne 4
Crows 7

Melbournes f1 is what I'd be trying to get and if I had to give uo 3 for 8 and then still do get crows picks this yr and next yr id do this however unrealistic

RICHMOND

Premiership window:
2029-2031

It’s no secret that the Tigers are still in the early stages of their rebuilding journey, and they’re unlikely to make a return to the premiership window for another three or four years at minimum.

However, they’ve arguably already locked down seven long-term senior players to fill the void left by their premiership dynasty after last November’s historic draft haul.

Sam Lalor and Josh Smillie will be star on-ballers for the foreseeable future, Taj Hotton has all the traits to be a centre-forward weapon, while Jonty Faull, Tom Sims and Harry Armstrong give the club a bevy of tantalising tall forward options for the post-Tom Lynch era.

And then there’s the versatile Luke Trainor, who played the most AFL games of any of those names this year and earned a Rising Star nomination.

And after two wins in his baptism-of-fire first year in charge, senior coach Adem Yze led Richmond to five wins this season in a year where many pondered if the club would go winless.

Stacking wins won’t come next season, but a return to prominence doesn’t seem as far away as some might think.

So no Lalor, no Hotton, no Faull and no Armstrong … yeah, you’d have really nailed it …
Get your hand off it. Lalor played 3 good games before he got a recurrent hammy at 18. The rest did nothing. Faull might be a worse shot for goal than Richo. Yeah really great job.

Agree entirely, we looked like gimps with Rance at 18 for a couple years. Wish I was a better judge at how reading the play develops from a junior level to the AFL, I think it comes with time at senior level but that makes it even harder to project for juniors. Thought Trainor was a++ but it will take him more time than I thought
TBF he was played out of position for a fair whack of the season, forward and wing IIRC. Play him in defence where he's a natural and he'll show why he was rated as the best defender in a strong draft.

That's the part for the recruiters to know how easy it can be fixed.

Rance was a pick 18, fixed them and we look like geniuses. XT we'd be taking at 4 and if he doesn't fix it we look like gimps.
Big part of Rance's improvement came from him learning his own limitations. So instead of going for disposals he thought he could pull off he went for stuff he knew he could do.

I thought Trainor struggled to defend one on one at times last year - even against small opposition. Hopefully time in the gym and locking down a position helps him. He can definately find the football. Kicking looks good but decision making needs to improve. Hopefully we see some growth over the offseason.
