I am not sure if I understand it correctly then. The previous year our home game in Gather Round was against Geelong, who then got a home game against us at Cat Park. Last year Gather Round was the home team against Brisbane who got a return home game against us at the Gabba. So going on this, we will have to play Hawks as the away game, because once again we are the home team and this game counts as a home game.
Because other teams who were listed as the Home team, still got a home game against the same opponent during the rest of the season. If you only look at us, and not the whole thing, of cause you'd feel its the rule. But other match ups in the past says it is not definite.

Giants in round 2 at Marvel and Crows away round 3!

Hawks/Dockers/Swans/Blues/Dees/Crows double ups.

No home game against Geelong, again.

3 Adelaide trips in the space of 8 weeks too.

Side Notes, only two games at the G per usual. vs Hawks and Demons

Play the Suns on the Gold Coast for once.

My initial thought - brilliant, opening round gives us a bye a bit later into the season which helps with accumulated fatigue.

My next thought - completely pointless to be having a 16 day break out of that first bye, when it means getting 6 day breaks in other parts of the season. Obviously we'd much rather a 13 day break if it meant turning 3 6 day breaks into 7 day breaks across the season.

Brutal first 6 weeks.

Either we show up and setup up our year with some big upsets v cats lions hawks and crows

Or it’ll be season over early

That’s a bad fixture.

No double ups against the bottom 4 last season.

Of the top 6 last season we double up against 2, and play 3 of them (Cats, Lions, Suns) on their home deck with no return match.

very tough fixture for a team that didn’t even make finals.
Watch Geelong get the bottom 4 cushion as per usual

We're banking on Carlton and Melbourne being crap for our double ups to be bad. But otherwise it's not great, is it?

As always we only get to double up once against any of the big four Melbourne clubs, though I suppose we do have a home game against Collingwood (never a guarantee) that will get us a 40,000+ crowd.

Look at their last 3 fixtures which will let them rest and ease players into the finals, like every year.

Carlton finished 9th a few years back, got what was rated as the easiest draw and still ****ed it up.

We’ve finished 9th twice since then and have been reamed both times.

These 4 teams you’d expect would be favourites to be the top 4 next year:

Brisbane once - away
Geelong once - away
Suns once - away
Hawks twice - neutral & away

We play every team in the top 10 from last year away bar Collingwood/GWS

We need to do a Collingwood and ban ourselves from Pork Barrell Park and demand 5 years straight of home games against them like we always get against

Completely unwinnable fixture
This point is a symptom of our Small Club Defeatist Attitude. something we desperately need to stamp out. If Teams are good enough, stuff like this simply does not matter.

Is it annoying? Yep, sure is. Does it deserve this much discourse? Not really
