I mean if his kicking action gets results so be it.Don't really see it with Nairn.
Kicking some goals in a dominant SA team against a bad WA team whilst getting the third or fourth defender isn't that impressive.
Happy to be wrong but his vision isn't super impressive. Weird kicking action for a lefty too.

Mason Wood!! Yay! Who'd want a Dusty Martin type anyway.Keen for the rational reactions when Fox Footy puts this on the screen as we call Nairn's name out later

I like that you left out the "footy IQ" part of it and then went on to talk about vague things like 'power rankings' and 'highlight reels'.Fraser Rosman is taller, and ran the 20m sprint and 2km time trials quicker. He never debuted. Aerobic capacity and speed is overrated.
I haven't seen any power rankings that had Nairn as a top 15 prospect.
Never watched Nairn play but his highlight reel isn't terribly exciting. His stats don't jump off the page either, only getting 10 touches and a tackle per game playing for an undefeated SA team that finished with a 184%
Feels like we are getting sucked in.
True, probably also looking at power rankings.I'm a little sceptical about Nairn but I expect we're probably basing the decision on more than what vision is available on YouTube highlight reels.

Has Jason Taylor spoken to his dad to find out if he's a funny dad?True, probably also looking at power rankings.
Yeah I've found the comparison really strange.Mason Wood!! Yay! Who'd want a Dusty Martin type anyway.
I don't think I've ever used 'power rankings' to push a player up or down? Happy for you to point out for me though.Bit weird that you think 'power rankings' are vague but you cite Twomey's power rankings when you feel like proving a point. At least be consistent.
Saying he has high footy IQ is the definition of being vague. How would you even define it? What have you seen that makes you think he is a high IQ player?
Is it his anticipation and positioning to only get 10 touches per game in a dominant team?
Is it his awareness to shut down opposition with 1 tackle a game?
Is it his decision-making to bomb the ball down the line to a contest?
Spoke to his Grandpa I believe, they're the real source of analysis and media these days.Has Jason Taylor spoken to his dad to find out if he's a funny dad?
Nairn is clearly not best available at our pick and we are choosing him based on needs due to our lack of young mid sized forwards. It’s good he seems to be able to win a contest and is a good runner like Sharp.
Taylor indicated on gettable we were looking slightly at needs with our picks, so let’s just hope that it doesn’t backfire as being too much of a reach in the end.
I still think we should just go best available based on talent and fill needs gaps later through trades and targetted FA but hopefully this strategy pays off.
Drafting based on needs is always fraught with danger like it was with Jefferson, or St Kilda with Paddy McCartin.

“Clearly not best available”

Its his brand.
Only watched his club interview but he kind of had it both ways saying we'd pick best available but wouldn't ignore needs. My read of that is the difference between where the club rates these guys is very marginal.Nairn is clearly not best available at our pick and we are choosing him based on needs due to our lack of young mid sized forwards.
