Club must be very confident about him. That’s a big contract extension for a kid who’s played one senior game.

Allan commits to Pies’ future
Collingwood’s 2022 draft pick Edward Allan has committed to the Pies’ future by signing a two-year contract extension that will see him in the black and white stripes until at least the end of 2026 season.www.collingwoodfc.com.au
It’s fairly standard of clubs to add two years to a new draftees contract within the first 12 months of drafting them. Alarm bells should be ringing for Cochrane if he hasn’t signed by Christmas and Allan not yet receiving an extension given our list environment is telling, IMO.
It could be him, option to go home possibly.Am really hoping Joel gets offered another contract.
Re Ed, maybe they want to see how he goes next year before offering another contract.
It will be his 4th year so hope he can up his game and get a bit more aggressive.
He tends to be an onlooker at times.
I’ll remember where I heard this first, appreciate the confirmationHe'll be a star. Achieved everything and more you could ask for a first year KPF

This is the riskShould have given him 6 years before he explodes
imagine what he’s worth in 2 yearsI was predominantly using the lesser exposed guys as the reference, but ultimately it’s a doubled edged sword both a show of faith and a gamble.I obviously haven’t been paying enough attention.
Thought a contract until the end of 2028 was a surprise - a welcome surprise I should add - but apparently not.
Some of the players you quote played more, and showed more, at senior level than Charlie, albeit Ryan is an exception.
Your post also reminded me that Allan has been in our system since we drafted him in 22. I’m still not a fan.
That's not a great start, that's a total pie in the sky start based on what he's shown to date! What’s peoples expectation from West next year?
I think if he can play 10-15 games and kick 20 plus goals it will be a great start to a career as a key forward
If you look at our tall forward options then 10-15 games isn't as pie in the sky as you'd think. We're one long term Cameron, McStay, Buller or Membrey injury away from serious game time required from either Steene/Smit as second ruck or West/Howes as third tall forward if that is the structure we keep. That's not a great start, that's a total pie in the sky start based on what he's shown to date!
His sole AFL game was forgettable beyond lucking into his first career goal. He's shown traits at VFL level but his benchmark as a second-year key forward should be maybe half a dozen games, not two thirds of the season.
Surely the amount of games he plays next year will depend on how he performs with the seniors. That's not a great start, that's a total pie in the sky start based on what he's shown to date!

They all have four months to get a spot in the side early and keep it through the practice matches into the early rounds. What do you see it being? I don’t think he’s any chance of breaking in as a mid now that he’s one more down the pecking order following Anderson’s recruitment. You then add Prindable who’s a similar size, style and possesses similar traits which tells me the club aren’t sure either.
Even if he does get a shot through the middle following a run of injuries I doubt we’d get more out of him than Macrae because he’s a small body with questionable skills at state league level (let alone the top level). From what I’ve seen he plays a straight line go ahead game so I thought that might be his avenue off HB, but that’s a hard road at Collingwood with our back half stacked at senior level with McInnes and Parker the next two in.

We set him up to fail in that game and I'll die on that hill. I love that Fly wanted to get a game under his belt though playing him alongside McStay, Mihocek and Membrey just felt silly.I was told tonight that fly always planned on playing him in the eagles game, even if he wasn't 100% ready. They were determined to give him some exposure before the season was out going into 2026
A shame he got injured then though. But never fear, he seems to be over that injury and hopefully can take a good step foward this preseason.
Agree, I get they wanted to play him, but just dont do it with 4 talls. We set him up to fail in that game and I'll die on that hill. I love that Fly wanted to get a game under his belt though playing him alongside McStay, Mihocek and Membrey just felt silly.
