You go for it if you like

Go for it in the morning :) - I'm going for a long weekend this weekend in Brighton for my birthday (the UK one, not the Melbourne one - the beach is much colder here!) so that may scupper results if I did it.

'The Gentle Art of Shabby Dressing

By Spencer Short

There’s nothing dandier than threadbare threads
worn by a discerning shabby dresser.
A collar’s fret or subtle fray is not lesser
because it’s worn away but models instead

the bespoke tailoring of time itself.
Done poorly—the gentleman farmer’s
piecemeal pastoral, that NoHo charmer’s
duct-taped boots—it’s like an unread bookshelf

of secondhand prose: a too-studied pose.
Done well, it draws you in to draw you near,
reveals the intricate pattern in the years’
inexorable ravel. Between decompose

and deconstruct, what seemed a foppish quirk
grows wise. Design undone. We* wear time’s work.'

Thanks for the votes for Stone Flower by Santana, always knew you guys had great taste :rainbow: I think I got the album ['Caravanserai'] for my 21st, one of my faves of course!

For my theme let's go for any song or tune you think has a really nice melody. Preferably no previous nomms but if you're stuck, anything that hasn't done well previously, def no previous podiums.

Nomms to be in by 10am tomorrow EST but earlier if you can

Stone Flower

What's that sound I hear coming from the ground
That' going 'round and 'round I can feel it pull me down
On my knees tears of joy have come to me
As the flower sounds made it plain to see
That this world is a perfect place to live
There is a warm soft wind blowing 'round me just to give
All the leaves such a haunting melody
That forever will be a part of me
Just like a ship out on the sea
Floating alone no one around me or beyond me
The sun is on me
Then suddenly I felt a kiss out of the breeze
That did caress me and possess me
Oh it astounds me
All around there's a feeling in the air
That with the grace of time we'll be getting closer there
But day by day I can see they walk away
And I wonder, Lord will they ever know
That this world is a perfect place to live?
Just look into your heart, find the love that's there to give
Realize that the secret is to share
Just like a ship out on the sea
Floating alone no one around me or beyond me
The sun is on me
Then suddenly I felt a kiss out of the breeze
That did caress me and possess me
Oh it astounds me

The music for "Stone Flower" was written by the renowned Brazilian bossa nova jazz musician
Antônio Carlos Jobim. The lyrics for the Santana version of the song were written by Carlos Santana and the band's drummer, Michael Shrieve.

The original "Stone Flower" was released as an instrumental track on Jobim's 1970 album of the same name. Santana's version, featuring the lyrics added by Santana and Shrieve, appeared on their 1972 album Caravanserai. - Wiki

Turned out very cool

Just ask his banker

****ing robbed, how can people not appreciate the lyrical genius of:

"My heart was open like an open book, and yours is closed"
"We were like a merry-go-round, going around in circles"
"You weren't telling the truth, you were telling lies"
"Get on the phone and talk to me"
Spud, where is Tubbs and what have you done with him???

The whole point of my poem, was that it was a "short" poem.
In that the author is called (Spencer) "Short" and our host requested a "short" poem in the contest specifications.
With no laugh reaction, I fear that this went over everyone's head.
I even had to explain it to the host in our contest PM, after he missed the point of this elite compliant entry.
