I think it is good time to try a few things
here is a suggestion from me.
We still have Lynch, make use of this while we can. play him FF as a anchor so we can try a few more creative shifts.
How about Lalor CHF, Cummings left half forward, Grjl right half forward facing goals
That means with Grjl at half forward and a running half forward line we can play Armstrong on the wing for lefties, he can drift to half forward at times and kick long goals.
Gibcus ready to make a return play him in a forward pocket, protect his legs and support us aerially and help with goals. Alger can do a bit of everything in the other pocket
Jonty Faull we can play fullback like his brother and see if he can be the next A Rance with a monster kick and other players can move around this structure. I would try Smillie in the backline initially when he gets back but he can try a few different spots, no pressure.
Sims can give Lynch and Nank a chop out, Balta can play in a few different spots backline or forward, just see what happens. an open half forward allows Armstrong, Smilie, and Balta to drift up where appropriate
see what happens, we are not winning a premiership in 2026, we need to find out the best way to play our players, see what they can do together, how best to combine them in different situations
why not make it offiicial??? nothing is concrete, we are developing including experimentation. Experimentation is good, like when Griffiths got injured in 2017
Some might think apart from Lynch deep and Gibcus the forward line aerially is a bit bare, but Armstrong, Smillie and Balta can be hanging around in the either mixing it up in the ether. Balta can kick long into the forward line provide a ruck chop out and Smillie can help in the midfield
We do not have to change our backline too much too early and we have some experienced campaigners down there being solid, we have plenty of players with versatility to like Trainor, Brown and others
