Had the feel of a 70 point win at the game, only time the Pies looked threatening was when we turned the ball over too shallow into our F50 and they went straight down the other end for a scoring opportunity, we scrambled very well though.

1- Loved Draper's game particularly his marking around the ground, when in defensive positions and when the Pies went long out of their defence.
2- The OA settling in nicely.
3- How bloody good are Wilmot and Fletcher down back, elite pairing for the next decade.
4- W Ashcroft sublime.
5- Logan Morris is elite, how he slid as far as he did on draft night is astounding.
6- Bruce is a lock in our best 23 now.
7- No other team has the depth we have, if we ever get our full list available there will be some bloody good players in the reserves.

I'm all aboard the Draper bandwagon. It's fun footy with him involved.

Oscar Allen starting to trust his body again is excellent.

Bruce is developing so nicely. An epic leg on him.

Kiddy is back and I'm here for it.

Will Ashcroft is the 🐐

In the end a stress-free win.
Crowd did not get to sing country roads even though we scored 119 points.

Pies outs: Nic Daicos (late), Pendelbury, Moore (Cpt). Hill has not played all year.
Lions outs: McCluggage (Cpt) Andrews (Cpt), Gardiner, Answerth. Payne & Hipwood have not played all year

Our depth much better than the Pies. Result a 54-point win
Crowd 34,648 (154 less than last year).

Disposals +115
Kicks +129
Clearances +18
Contested possession +76
Marks +79
Marks I50 +15
Contested marks +7
Time in front all game

Lions players over 20 Disposals 11
Pies players over 20 disposals 4

On the above stats we should have won by more. Good to see our % is now above 100% (110.6%)

Need to watch the replay for best players but Draper and Allen improving again especially Draper tonight.

Draper and Allen were always going to take a bit to get into it and there is more growth there. They will get better.

When Draper has a shot at goal he needs to pass it off though.
Hit half a dozen in warm up from 45-50 that sailed through, definitely mental during the game

Just cannot see how Hipwood gets back into this side.....and I'm not sure I want him too tbh.

Seeing the boys play like they do, jelling together like they do and the way the newbies, young and older, have fitted in, is so exciting to watch atm....that balance is going to be trickey to keep, but keep it must be.

..last nights game against the Pies was so satisfying and enjoyable to watch..

The lovefest for NDaicos is sickening, it really is. Our Will is far superior. Two Normies says so..

.. what have you done Nick?

Bugger all!

Thanks lads.....best way to get Easter off to a great start. Thought we received the better run from the umpires which is a tad unusual against this mob......any mob infact. Go Lionsssss.

was out all night and watched the replay when got home. Well that seemed a complete performance. Loved Drapers game. Also just the way we can drop Joyce into the backline and just does his job with no fuss and he just sticks to his lane with his decisions he makes. What a GOOD GOOD Friday it is today.
Also was that ROD Lester we had in the rooms after the game or ROB Lester. Seriously BT. Doesnt he have someone in his ear saying you are saying his name wrong. Even Froggy at the end was just smuirking about it.
Also Also just in case anyone didnt know NICK DAICOS was a late out for collingwood last night.

Thought the performance for this time of the was really good. Draper and OA showing they will workout better than ok. They just need to now show it week in week out.

Thought Gallop down back played well considering his total lack of experience. Could be our KP swingman going forward.

I will repost this team in the Unofficial Preview Thread when goes up, but based on what we saw last night competition for places in the senior team is super tight. I’d be going this way against North Melbourne next week. I think it’s worth giving McCluggage and Answerth an extra week to recover.

In: Andrews
Out: Tunstill

B: Lester, Joyce, Coleman

HB: Zorko, Andrews, Wilmot

C: Berry, Bailey, Reville

HF: McCarthy, Allen, Cameron

F: Lohmann, Morris, Rayner

Foll: Draper, Dunkley, W.Ashcroft

Int: Fletcher, Neale, L. Ashcroft, Fort, Gallop

I would also suggest that keeping Andrews, Lester and Joyce together makes more sense than playing Gallop down back. It replicates the optimal defensive structure we have when we play the three ‘talls’. Our top flight set up is - Andrews, Lester, Payne. Then we have - Andrews, Lester, Gardiner. Finally, what we had last night was great, with Gallop as a stopgap measure, but Andrews, Lester, Joyce looks far more settled and cohesive. Playing Joyce in the defensive ‘BIG THREE’ is every bit as good playing Payne and I would argue that Joyce shades Gardiner.

I thought Drapers recruitment last year was great, filling an obvious need, only costing salary and no other real options. Been a slowish start, but showed what he can bring to the side last night.

Allen’s on the other hand I wasnt excited for, really pleased what he is starting to show, getting some confidence now, decent return for the game.

Will has stepped up heaps, was another awesome performance, BOG for me. Levi is building nicely in McCluggage absence. Neale still preforming at such a high level too.
Our midfield has a crazy mix at the moment, was absolute leagues apart between the teams last night.

Defense stood up with obvious outs. Forward line working nicely, pretty content with a 2-2 start considering, did let an opportunity slip against the dogs though.

We played at very week Collingwood team.

Having said that - bringing in Drapes, Allen, Kiddy & Linc. Players who don’t yet have a flag. I feel there’s a desperation from these guys to be there and get one. They could be a key driver this year for our club not to lose focus.
