I've only be watching for about 6 years. Though do remember a 30 minute show about 1990 in UK.
These rankings of the clubs are interesting for the first couple of times.
I did ask my mate now in Melbourne who adoped his wife's team, Collingwood.
I asked him why it isnt seen as a big 5 with...
Only ever seen 2 people wearing team colours in the UK. A North hat at my son's soccer match a few years ago and a Bulldogs jumper in a Wales 2 years ago. That turns the rankings round a bit. Here to help.
Though do find the geographical splits of fans within Melbourne more interesting.
it seems to be movable, opinions bit from my view at moment
Group1- Coll, WC, Rich, Ess
Group2- Ade, Haw, Car
Group3- Sydney, Geel, Frem, Port
Group4- Melb, StK,West,Nm,Bris
Group5- GC, GWS.
Melbourne question in terms of the big 4.
To me and my mate now living in Melbourne who says Hawthorn...
Be interested in an honest answer from around all 18 teams.
What would would % of members would be from the home city.
I.e. would north be 25k of their 42k of members be Melbourne based? I.e. Tasmania 7/8k for North and 3k for WA
Secondly that leads into what attendence would be home fans in a...
I think looking at what i have seen\available for the 20 biggest suburbs by members the areas are the most likely places to find higher % of a team's supporters. However in terms of a team dominating suburbs i suspect not too many would be say 60% plus for one club. A few obvious ones with 2.5k...
There seems to be a factor of the old zones especially in the outer east. But not to overtake the old train lines. It seems the newer big growth areas werribee area and berwick pakenham is just a big mix?
So would new italians migrants on the whole pick Carlton? Does that pull happen now without...
From the data i have seen which is limited.
How does Melton fall in terms of Afl support?
And i see north has western suburbs? Is this just the south west big suburbs werribee, hoppers points or does north also have caroline springs, hillside, sydenham or any of the keilors? Or is its fan...

Bit out of blue. Does anyone remember the suburbs and ranks of the herald sun membership numbers in 2015 based on 2014 members?

It seems this is largely disregarded as innaccurate. I guess thats why the herald sun thing based on actual members drew my attention. The flow of people around melbourne over decades hasnt over diluted the suburb mix. Clubs remain mostly concentrated in the areas where the migration has flowed...
Just getting into afl from uk and i'm fascinated by the suburbs but i can't seem to access the data. Would be interested to see the list of Western, North, Essendon and Carlton past the top 5. As these are the teams i havent seen elsewhere. Any help would be appreciated?
