    I reckon we'll pick Membrey over West. Against the Saints, Membrey will be highly motivated to perform strongly and opening round is probably as fit and niggle-free as he will be all season.

    Given the respective strength of the two sides today, I’d say that was effectively about an eight goal win to the Pies! And no obvious injuries is the real win from it for us. It’s going to be a big week for the selectors. So many players to fit back into the line-up.

    He’ll be better in a midfield rotation including Nick, Jordy, Crisp, Pendles and Sidey. The last two of those will be gone by the end of the year, so we all better hope that Allan makes it. There isn’t much else in the cupboard.

    In fairness to them, we’d all be pretty happy if we’d chalked up pre-season wins over the previous year’s pair of grand finalists. Hopefully it turns out like 2005, when the Blues won the pre-season cup and then went on to also “win” the wooden spoon in the season proper. Ah, good memories!
