Atley was top 3 in repeat sprints, which is what I expected. Still confident he will be our pick.

Harvey led midway through the test which sees three players run at one time and he duly knocked off Murray Bushranger Shaun Atley’s leading time of 23.69sec by 0.23 seconds.

Ultimately wouldn't be disappointed with any of Gaff, Heppell, Atley, Polec or Smith. Just hope we don't pull the trigger on Darling at 4. A mid-late first rounder would be great for someone like him, but not at 4. Hopefully the club doesn't get too put off by taking an interstater with such a high pick.

We'd be laughing if we got that for Kerr

It's not unrealistic at all when trades like McLean for pick 11 are done. If Kerr gets on the park and plays a reasonable amount of games, he's worth every bit of pick 9 or 11.
Leigh Matthews thinks it's worth it.

I'm right on the Heppell bandwagon now, is ripping it up at draft camp and his skills are impeccable. Is certainly not slow, and has a great mark to go with his strong leap. Some argue that we don't need anymore HBF's but Heppell has proven himself to be a gun midfielder, whilst also being able to play in the backline, rotating him and Sheppard between the midfield and back flanks would be perfect:thumbsu:

Would also be very happy with Polec, has great pace and skills, and is exactly what we need, a talented, speedy, skilful, left-footed wingman.

Would be fine with Smith, very Judd-like in the way he breaks tackles and he appears to have good skills and lots of speed.

According to the AFL were almost certain to select Gaff with 4, but why? TBH he's kicking seems a bit suss, and he tends to take to long to dispose of the pill, has good pace, without being exceptional, but hardly ever uses it in the game. I'd be able to accept us picking him at 4, but I'd much rather Heppell, Polec or even Smith or Atley.

I like Atley, has tons of speed and agility, kicking can be a bit iffy though, which is the main reason I'd rather Heppell over him, we need more A-grade disposers in the side, Heppell is A+.

Really don't want us selecting Darling, especially after his head injury, he doesnt have near as much scope for improvement as other KPP's in this draft, and although I think he'll definitely be a good player, there's simply much much better options.

If we were dead-set on selecting a KPP, assuming Day doesnt slide, my number #1 choice would definitely be Lynch. He's an amazingly talent, is so athlectic and in the future will definitely have the capability to tear apart games. A forward line of T Lynch, Le'Cras and Kennedy would be fantastic:thumbsu: And wouldnt it be great to have a talented Lynch on our list for once? Oh, and at 198cm, he'd be able to back-up Cox and NicNat in the ruck:thumbsu:

Would be able to accept Gorringe at 4, but I think their are more pressing needs for us, in particular a skilful midfielder (Heppell or Polec:)), but by selecting Gorringe our ruck-stocks would be secure for another decade, and Gorringe and NicNat would be a terrifying combo for any opposition.

I think their all of the main candidates for our first round pick, would love Heppell, and to a lesser extent Polec. Both would be great additions to our team:thumbsu: Heres hoping Lamb slides or we upgrade our second rounder:D

I don't know where people get the idea that Gaff takes too long to dispose of the ball, he just has so much poise and time and makes the right decisions rather than taking the first option.

Show me where he gets caught holding the ball, because if he doesn't then he isn't taking too long, he just has great awareness and decision making skills.

And before people start coming back with the quicker tempo of AFL argument I say that is BS, he is a class player and he will adapt no problem.

For the record I still have Heppell slightly in front of Gaff, but both would compliment our current group of young midfielders and both have had great athletic results at the camp to back up their footballing credentials.

WIN-WIN

Gaff takes too long to dispose of the ball? He holds onto it to find the right option, he has the awareness to wait until the last second before he kicks the ball in order to find the best option.

Where do people get the idea that Gaff's kicking is iffy? It looks great from what I have seen.

Still want Heppel, Polec or Smith.

Gaff, not so much. Seems like a hard working accumulator to me...but meh.

Darling, no.

Ideal draft - Heppell, Polec, Darling, Lamb. So need top 4(Heppell), top 10 (Polec), top 15/20 (Darling) and top 25 (Lamb) I reckon. With moving McKinley and others would this be even possible?

Short answer : No
Long answer : Nope

Geez, watching some footage of Lynch. So athletic and agile, he moves so well for someone his height.

Who is the better user / smarter footballer Heppell or Gaff?

I've read that Gaff gets allot of the ball, prepares well and trains very hard.

Heppell from what I've seen / read sounds like he has better skills and decision making. Is slightly taller and can play back, mid and forward.

I just hope we pick the better footballer not the better athlete.

Oh, and I prefer Heppell as well at this stage.:thumbsu:

Both are very good footballers, both very safe bets, but Heppell has the ability to be an absolute superstar IMO.

Bring on Jacob Brennan. Seriously though, we must rate him if he was actually submitted as father son. Need infos.

I reckon we must have him earmarked for specialist back pocket.

He's good defensively, has speed and while there are varying accounts on his height, I think he looks closer to the 190cm mark, with good reach. He loves to provide some rebound too so he'd keep his opponent accountable.

It's the only scenario that makes any sense to me. His selection can release Smith, Sheppard, Hurn etc further up the ground.

he sounds a bit like schofield though which would be a bit of a problem if we had him, schofield, mackenzie and brown all playing in the backline at the same time (not including glass). Though I've never seen him play so I could be wrong

I think he's very much like schofield. Not quite as big and a bit more mongrel to him. Think he could do well if he keeps improving at the rate he has this year.
